DubleDex, your post is right on. Even within that R/T envelope, there existed the 426 Hemi, by far the most fearsome. We may not see that impact again, when someone might ask if you have the 440 or 426, and when you say 426, eyesbrows would rise.

Dodge has watered down the "R/T" (or "SRT") badge from days gone by. Would be nice if they had a SUPERHEMI to mimic the old 426 presence. You know, 6.1 vs. 6.6 (or 6.4), all in SRT form.
