Re: REPORT: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 not sold out, but bring your wallet

You're absolutely right jptx. I was never arguing the Challenger's weight on the market when it arrived, late might I add, for the '70 model year.

When DCX first decided to go ahead with this project it wasn't then either... Things being what they are, it now is a "halo" car!

This is now a vehicle that is classified in the category of being an "aspiratonal" car. Kids, teens, adults...... They'll aspire to own the top of the line Challenger. There's no arguing that! They will do what they can to afford the car. The people that can already afford the car, and the premium over sticker, will also own the car... Only they'll own it first!

This is not a vehicle that will follow the rule of "planned obsolescence". It will not be rebodied or freshened before it's useful life expectancy is over. It will remain the same until it's gets some wildly outlandish future-modern interpretation of what a Challenger is or the "green-machine", as I like to call the green lobbyists, destroy the muscle car market altogether! And unfortunately for all of us that love brute, gut-wrenching, foot in the ass speed, that day is coming.

This car is going to be a last hoorah of sorts. Count on that! Aspire to own it in the mean time and don't worry... In the next 2-3 years, or maybe sooner, Challenger's strangle-hold on the modern vision of greatness past will fade and the prices will drop.

And again.... to reiterate!
I said in my first post I don't agree with the dealerships that are yanking deals after agreeing on a price and taking deposits! And no.... people do NOT want dealers making money! Or shall I say "stealers", as most refer to them!

Oh... and the T-Bird was a turd, plain and simple! That was just a BEAUTIFUL marketing campaign gone awry once the vehicle actually hit the street!
