Is it acceptable, no, not in my opinion. Given that you can land a Mustang GT for several thousand less I think they are creating their own competition problem. Will be curious to see what the Camaro comes in at. Really, what's the argument in favor of spending 5k more? it gets 80 or so more horsepower, yupp that's really worth 5 grand or so, especially when gas hits 4 bucks a gallon.

Comfort comes into play, I'll pay a couple thousand more to be able to sit in it comfortably and not too mention IRS which the mustang doesn't have...
