I disagree.
The Journey is a $1000 rebate or 1800 gallons of fuel. At $3.64 a gallon (national average), that is a $1170 savings. At $4.00 this is an $1800 savings.
The Caliber gets 1500 gallons in lieu of a $750 rebate.
The Avenger gets 1714 gallons in lieu of a $1000 rebate
The Nitro gets 2000 gallons in lieu of $1250 rebate.
The Charger you give up $1500 in rebates for 2000 gallons of fuel.
The Grand Caravan fits in the same (you give up $1000 of rebate to get fuel savings on 1895 gallons), as do the
It doesn't work well for the Durango as you only get 2400 gallons, but have to give up $2000.
All Diesels will benefit - give up $2500 in rebates for 2400 gallons in fuel. Diesel savings are at $1.10 / gallon.
As you can see, at current prices the savings is minimal, but if prices go up, the customer will benefit.
also, from my experience in the car business, people would rather have fixed expenses (locked car payment + locked fuel price) than variable (variable gas prices)
also, wouldn't it be nice to not have to drive around looking for the cheapest gas station?
