Re: Best way to learn manual transmission?

I think all of those things are stupid. Including the propellers and crap like that.

I'm sure the auto won't be "bad" at all. With the F1 tires and everything else it seems like the reviews say the best times they got launching it were just slamming the pedal into the ground with ESP off. Not using brake torque or anything like that -- just stomping it yielded the best times and due to the tires it hooked up right away.

From: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Full Test

Best acceleration runs result from merely stomping the throttle to the floor from idle with ESP off. No brake torque at all. With the 3.06:1 rear axle ratio and 3.58 1st gear in the five-speed automatic, the car produces textbook-perfect, bog-free, wheelspin-free launches. Manual upshifts with the console-mounted Autostick are blazingly fast, or the transmission does it for you right at the 6,200-rpm redline.
Sounds like some fun to me. Though I'm really excited about the 6-speed manual now. Seems like it may be more "fun" to drive even if the autos will be blazing me at the track until (hopefully) I can get the hang of shifting the beast.
