My sister's boyfriend got himself a white Charger R/T the other week. My sister ended up telling me that he couldn't find a white one other than the one the dealer found that had a "stripe package" on it. The first thing I thought was "oh man, the dealer probably screwed him".
First thing I did was ask him how much he paid for it and it wasn't much, I tihnk $7/month increase on his lease. But still, all the dealer did was take a white R/T and slap some Daytona style HEMI hood decals on and quarterpanel decals that said HEMI instead of DAYTONA.
I'm not sure how they put it to him and if they advertised it as something extremely special, but I hope not. It's fine for dealers to add some cool aesthetics to the car, but as long as they're up front about what they are in terms of "We, the dealer, put some decals on" not "It's a cool limited edition model!" I would almost rather they offer it as a package the buyer can add on instead of putting it on the car beforehand to jack the price.
But yea, this seems to be a popular thing to do with "certain" dealers.
In the dealer that my sister's boyfriend bought from's defense, the stripe package does look pretty cool on it. White charger + black decals. He let me take it for a spin and wail on it -- first time ever in a Charger. Very nice car and made me that much more excited to get out of my V6 240HP FWD and into my new '09 SRT8 6-speed
