Unfortunately, in today's automotive industry, I cannot opt for a nice big engine and a cloth interior. I know that selecting the 425 Hemi would also probably mean selecting ridiculous addons such as rear seat DVD, genuine dead cow skin, 20" chrome polished high-maintenance rims and heated mirrors, seats, washer fluid, etc.

If I could have just one wish, it would be to do away with the current giant price markups in the packaging system of cars, and let me get the performance I want without the luxury. If I want a luxury car, I'll buy a Cadillac or a Mercedes.
I agree with you 100%. I also voted for the 350hp/6spd manual but if I could get the 425 hp engine for $800 dollers more I would do it in an heartbeat. But you know the 425 hp model will be in some sort of limited addition with tv's in the headrest, voice activated navigation and Louise Vittan (spelling) leather seats. If I could purchase a base model R/T with the 425 hp engine for $800 I would be the happiest person in the world.
