Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
First off, I want to thank you for deciding to build the Challenger. What's that? You haven't given the official word yet? Don't worry, you will. If you don't, you will pi@% off so many true Mopar fans that I kid you not, we will consider buying a Ford Mustang GT500!!
All of the models of the Challenger should have the 6spd manual transmission as STANDARD equipment. The autos should be options. The cars need to come with only the basics as standard equipment (with the exception of ABS). Go back to the good ole days when a customer has to ADD options if he wants extras on his car. Don't think it will work? Just try it and watch how many roll out the door with nothing but the bare bones equipment. This keeps the car affordable for everybody. The R/T version definitely should get the 425hp motor, and if you can tweak another 15-20hp out of it...nobody would complain.
Now, for the SRT version. I want for you guys to turn the SRT engineers loose and let them go buckwild on the SRT version!!! I want for them to build the baddest, meanest looking, meanest sounding, best performing car in it's class (just what SRT is supposed to be)! I want it to be something that Chevrolet and Ford can only dream about competing against. When the SRT Challenger roams the strees, I want for it to have a reputation that tells the other guys that they better bring it if they hope to beat it!!!
By the way, I want a Cuda!!!
