I prefer the manual (as long as it is Miata precise, short direct throws, not notchy or rubbery. Like a well oiled bolt action rifle). If they give us a clunky long throw vague shifter, I'll get the auto. A manual must be great for me to enjoy it, like my old BMW 5 Series.
