Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain

HEY DCX, YEAH I'm talking to you!!!
When you build the new challenger, consider all of the cool things that you did with the original e-bodies way back when.
The original challengers and barracudas came with 9 different engines to choose from and every engine could be had with either an automatic or a manual transmission. Customers could choose from a long list of options AS WELL as assorted packages. Have packages, but don't forget to let us pick and choose the exact options that we want, don't force us to get some optiosn taht we don't want just to get some optiosn taht we do want. Include cool stuff like High impact colors (mmm plum crazy. . .) and fun stripes like stobe stripes and billboards andall of that wacky stuff that someone came up with after a smoke break in their old VW van with all of the flowers painted on the sides. Let the customers build the exact challenger that they have been dreaming about for the last 32 years. Don't make us wait for the reaaly nice options like an SRT-8 or a rag top. Lay everything on the table right out of the gate. If we all buy the first year only to turn around and sell them to buy a second year convertible, the resale value of the cars will take a serious hit and that will seriously uindermine the long term viability of the model, as well as hurting the resale of your whole lineup. Give us all of the goodies the first year out.

You've got those cute little 4 banger world engines (like the ones in the new caliber), put those in the base model and start it off at around $16K bare bones. Offer several V6 options (for the love of god, please don't put that craptastic 2.7L (the stupid thing is the single worst engine brought to market in the last 9 years in the whole freaking world. . . fix the oil starvation issue or don't make it)) Offer several hemi engines, from a couple versions of the 5.7 to the 6.1 to the 6.4 and maybe you should surprise us with something that puts out about 600 ftlbs across the band. . .
Do not make the car without the option to put a manual transmission in the car. I won't buy a car with a sludg-o-matic, a lot of people won't more than you think.
Don't add a B-pillar and give us a rag top with an optional removeable hard top too. and don't mess it up.
