There were at least three problems combining in 1973-1974 to create the "perfect storm" that killed the last muscle car era: smog regulation, arab oil embargo, insurance crackdown. There may or may not be another perfect storm brewing on the horizon but at this point it is pure speculation. Fact is, unless something traumatic happens these cars will continue to be sold as long as DCX makes good money off them.

As far as the 392 Hemi goes consider: I was shopping for a high end Camaro in 1996 and it had 270 HP. A decade later we've arrived at 425 HP. The overall trend is upwards, stretched over a long period of time.
