Fact is, unless something traumatic happens these cars will continue to be sold as long as DCX makes good money off them. I was shopping for a high end Camaro in 1996 and it had 270 HP. A decade later we've arrived at 425 HP. There is a trend and it isn't hard to read.
Yes there will be a transition period where green cars will replace the gasoline burners but it will be slow and gradual because the infrastructure is nowhere near ready to handle it on a national level. Another possibility is we're headed for a future where all pedestrian cars are green and performance cars are gas powered, but folks like to think in terms of absolutes. All one or the other. People won't give up their gas powered cars until either the oil runs out or there is a viable substitute to replace it (or the govt mandates it which ain't happening given the power oil has on capital hill). Can you seriously see a future without sports cars??

There is still plenty of time for some hotroddin' fun

Tell that to the liberals(they already have been killing our infrastructure for years). With the gas and oil the way it is,..and electric and hybrids coming in,...and a possible new liberal controlled horizon again(impossible restrictions and penalties on auto manf. to produce these kinds of cars we like with our "gas powered" hemi challengers,shelby's,Z06'S..etc)....these kind of cars will not be around for long.....Now that doesn't mean that there won't be any other performance cars,...they'll just be made more "alternative fueled and lookin'cars"

of the future....where do I go to throw-up?!

...If your in it to compete today...then compete today!!!...I'm living for today,...not tomorrow!.....Don't put off tomorrow, what you should be doing today!!!....and in 73-74 it was too late!!...The hp had already been sucked out of them,...because of all the pollution crap(hint emissions) and oil(sounds familiar, a little different, but similar).....71 was last hemi with decent hp from the old days version.PLus I don't want to turn this into a political debate,...I want to stay on track with subject at hand......Dcx, don't just offer one engine pkg. only,... as that limits yourself from the overall market....Please release different variants,...with the 6.4l coming out in the srt-8 version for the grand finale' 6 months later(to compete)

...soon please!
