Dodge Challenger Models and Options
I've been doin a lot of non-stop reading on the Challenger, and even with these polls that have been posted i thought i would share my own input on wat the Challenger should have for its models. i work for a Chrysler dealership is Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.... used to work for Ford so i drove mustangs daily, but i am a born and raised Chrysler guy so here are my thoughts:
Base Model:
3.5L V6, 250HP, with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed autostick transmission options
SXT Model:
5.7L V8 Hemi, 350HP, with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed autostick transmission options
R/T Model:
6.1L V8 Hemi, 425HP, with both 6-speed manual and 5-speed autostick transmission options
SRT-8 Model:
6.4L (392CI) V8 Hemi, 6-speed manual transmission
I think that the STR-8 model should be available in manual only, simply cause the Shelby GT500 is also only manual, since i worked for Ford i noticed that all the SVT's (except the F-150) were all manual, in a way it was a good thing cause it kept the whole performance feeling true, but it was a downfall cause not everyone performance fan knows how to drive manual and either doesnt have the time to learn or just doesnt want to. in any cause this is one reason why SVT went down, i just think that a manual tranny in the SRT Challenger will be just as good as the Viper, top of the line performance with the motor and tranny to show it. I've been hearing constant rumours about the Viper being either trashed or upgraded. Personally i think the Viper should get a bitchin' upgrade to better compete with the new Corvette and Ford GT. i read up on a rumoured 6.4L Multi-Point Fuel Injected V10, tuned-up higher to hit close to 650+ HP, that would be a really sweet idea, tuning up the suspension and handling would be a good idea so it can corner like nothing.
