Re: Didnt Chrysler say the same thing about the Charger?

I don't recall DCX saying anything like that about the Charger - why would they? The Charger replaced the Intrepid, which was their bread-and-butter mid-size sedan, so it would only stand to reason that the Intrepid's replacement would be their bread-and-butter mid-size sedan also - and that's not something you offer in limited numbers, by any means. Perhaps you were thinking of the SRT-8 version - THAT of course is offered in limited numbers, but it'd be awfully foolhardy for DCX to limit the Charger itself.

And I also have to respectfully disagree about offering the Challenger as a limited-production model - even if DCX only does it the first year I think it would ultimately be a mistake in the long run. One need only look at the Mustang's sales success as to why it wouldn't be the right thing to do.

Think about it - if in 2005 Ford only offered its new Mustang in the GT version in its first year without offering a V6 version that more people could afford, its sales would be less than half of what it was. Ford could then argue that there's not enough interest in this car and ultimately kill it. The Challenger HAS to be competitive if it is to survive - and that means NOT limiting it. I'd actually rather see the car be delayed until ALL versions (V6 and Hemi V8 versions) can be offered at the same time (if it comes to that, I hope it doesn't). Even though I want the 6-speed SRT-8 version, I still believe that offering ONLY that version, even just in the first year, would ultimately be detrimental to the car's long-term well being.

And I don't want to see that happen - not after all this time.
