Hey guys, got a question for someone out there??? I was going to go with an aftermarket cai but after viewing many posts on here about the benefit not being worth the money, I sorta decided to just modify my factory intake box and put a cone filter in the sealed box, now my question is has anyone taken the inake "muffler" off and plugged the hole where it was mounted to? I would like ideas about how to do this, I saw one post about usinga marmon clamp, well guess what marmon clamps aren`t just laying around in stores...anyway thanks by the way this is on my b5 blue classic 6 spd....love it almost wore out already with 500 miles on it...lol

Some sort of silicon sleeve w/ clamp (marmon or otherwise) would be a great idea. You might also be able to fab something out of light plastic stock and epoxy it to the OUTSIDE of the piping. Whatever you do, be mindful of the fact that whatever you plug it with could come off and get sucked into your engine if not secured properly.

Don't modify your stock box just in case you want to re-install down the road or even sell it.

Don't be so cheap and just buy yourself a SRI (short ram intake), it's worth the money and the good looks under the hood. True, gains are minimal but sound is better and if you want a Predator later you'll need the SRI. There is practically every color and style intake you can think of, so no excuses.

I should charge you good money for this advice but I'm not, because I'm a helluva cool guy!

so hitop what excatly is a short ram intake? I`m planning on a preditor in the future so I guess I should plan aheah now...I done a search on here but nothing comes up for short ram intake? I was thinking about a c and L cai, would I be able to use the preditor with this cai?. thanks guys
