who has sold and for how much
S/S Dodge 07-13-2009, 03:36 PM i paid less than $20k for mine. it would be hard to find a decent anything for that amount. the odd thing is, i see these SE selling used for much more than mine was new. go figure.
chemmail 07-13-2009, 03:40 PM Exactly what 4 door sedan will you get? An SE isn't exactly lavish spending unless you're getting a used Nissan Versa. Would be totally something else if you got an SRT8.

You can get a lot of decent cars or used SUV's under the the 26K (before taxes etc...) price I paid for this car.
Plus only THINKING about selling - Might not be thinking clearly with just buying the house

I won't ask questions as this touches your personal finances which is none of my business. However, mortgage shock is natural. Selling the SE will likely cost you, but you may break even depending on down payment. If you can manage all your credit and save a bit, for goodness sake keep the SE. This is a nice friendly and decent sized car for any family. How much can you save by liquidating it? 5k over four years? If that is significant for your financial well being, then sell it.
One year I bought a Cadillac. My older daughter, then in junior high, asked if I was getting old. Yikes! I sold the car in a week and that was 20 years ago.
Now both kids are through college and one through grad school ask for rides on the Harley. Mortgage shock. Keep the SE.
ChargerR/T 07-13-2009, 05:25 PM Keep the car and re think your budget. Not worth driving someone elses junk
wickedmpulse 07-13-2009, 05:43 PM No!!!!!!!! Tonight I took my pregnant wife to Lowe's AND the grocery store in my Challenger. I folded the back seat down to fit the 6 ft. pole saw I bought at Lowe's and the trunk is so big it had plenty of room for all the groceries too. So it helps me do my household duties just fine LOL

In my opinion, here is a much more realistic estimate of your car's actual resale value...fill in the options and mileage to get an even better estimate.
Edmunds used Dodge Challenger car appraisal. Used Dodge car pricing. (http://www.edmunds.com/used/2009/dodge/challenger/101020244/options.html)
I think you should keep your sweet ride! Get a 4door beater and insure for liability only. my 2 cents worth...:)

Good point, I would have kept my Altima that I traded in if I had a place to keep it...
zekeman1 07-14-2009, 01:17 PM you seem to forget that another car might cost you more in insurance. you should also see if your insurance company can cover both for a lower premium. isn't there a tax rebate for new cars ? if you add that to the new rebate for buying a house, you might come out ahead. besides think of the car as an investment too. in five years some cars won't even be worth a tenth the cost of yours . see a tax consultant.

Yeah I sold my 1970 Cuda in 1987 to buy a house and I regretted it every day until June 15th, 2009 (the day I picked up my 2009 Torred Chally). It took me 22 years to feel better again.

the727kid 07-15-2009, 02:29 PM If anything trade it on a LX Hemi..... I would of but a 19 year old is hard to get approved.... BTW the dealership has offered me more than I paid, twice.
