Upgrade SE Brakes to SRT8
I have posted this on the Perfomance thread as well.

Looking to upgrade my SE suspensionhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f79/upgrade-se-brakes-srt8-35218/#) to something more robust. I am adding a Vortech Supercharger and feel like I need a little more stopping power.

Anybody done the conversion?

Thanks

Upgrading your brakes will cost a few thousand buck$. Plus you will need some new wheels to clear the Brembos.

Thanks Great American

I have a new set of 20's from a SRT8. My concerns were the fitting of the SRT 8 brake package. Was wondering if there was another way to go besides the Brembos. Would the brakes off a Charger RT or SRT8 do the job?

IMO, vented OEM R/T or police pack rear brakes in size, get them slotted or cross drilled and a good set of pads, from my eyeball it would look like you would need the rear caliper holder and the wider disk at a minimum. The S/E is a much lighter car so it won't take much to give you near SRT like braking from a much cheaper upgrade that will work at everything up to a full road race and at that point, nothing will beat a SRT8 setup on a S/E with good pads, changed often.

If you go with the brembo the spindles will have to be changed. Stop Tech might be a better way to go if the R/T kit will work on a SE. But you are still looking at about $4000.00 for Stop Tech kit.

Master Power Brakes - Charger Police Interceptor package, Engineered PF front and rear rotors and PF pads (http://www.mpbrakes.com/products/product-detail.cfm?product_id=857)

here are R/T size rotors and pads, you need to check if you will need rear mounting bracket (the R/T and police cars have larger rear rotors) at the minimum.

Here I found a caliper / pad / bracket setup complete:

Pick up your favorite 13.6 rotor and you will have all the braking you could need this side of a road race..

Of course I'm assuming the R/T has the police SE rotor size and setup.
