I'm not sure if you guys know about this or not, but has anyone tried this on a Challenger. If one of you have an 09 I am especially curious if it will work on mine. Thanks Garylee YouTube - Watch your MyGiG Front DVD Screen while in Motion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDBxxjP_XZc&feature=related)

One has to wonder why you would want to watch a video while you were driving? :8:

Give the co-pilot something to watch other than the speedo!

Anybody really try this, for one I thought there was switch placed on the parking brake, when engaged you could watch DVD's but with it disengaged, the DVD wouldn't play. I have this done in my Mag(Kenwood DDX6012), I have toggle switch to allow me to play DVD while driving down the road. I tried it once, never have since. Its just not a safe thing to do. Just my .02 cents.

On our long trip to texas, my co Pilot watched shows... I just listened. I take driving to serious to try try and watch while driving. Plus the kids could see it in the back seat

how tough was the install of the lockpick?. I definately think I want to add this if this other "hack" deal doesnt work which I'm guessing it wont.

We tried the hack and it does work on an 08 Caravan. I agree that watching it down the road is not good, but my passenger and the back seat like it. I just listen. I will also hook up a rear DVD for trips.

Didn't work on mine. The MYGIG with the nav doesn't have the Audio button on the right like that radio. :brickwall:

Your REN unit must not have the latest update... they fixed it.

My new REN in our '08 Dakota has the latest and greatest software, and no, this trick does not work.

I wonder if they changed it because of the manual trans. I was wondering how I would pull it off with my 6sp.

NOT EVEN REMOTELY SURE

I was just thinking that we need a manual rt to try this.

Cool hack good to know if needed.

The youtube video doesn't work. Can someone explain how to do the hack? I hope the hack isn't the LockPick, because I'm not paying 300 bucks for my passenger to watch video when I have to drive.

We can watch videos, too. Our favorite has been Godsmack, but I get too distracted while I'm driving. My daughter is no longer allowed to watch them on the MyGig. Only in the backseat with her portable DVD player!!!

You might want to check the dip switches (5 little switches on the back of the unit). You might not have set them correctly or maybe you bumped them out of position during the re-install.

Check out the installation instructions at the Lock-Pick site Page 4 http://www.coastaletech.com/media/MYGIG%20LOCKPICK%20INSTRUCTION.pdf

If you have nav Switch 2 should be down not up

If you get the my gig lock pik I would also get the backup camara for it. It helps with the blind spot in these cars.

Would you please send me the 'hack' directions since the video was removed from youtube? I'd like to try it on my 09 Challenger. Thanx.

If I'm not mistaken it had to do with the cutting of a pink wire that goes to the emergency brake. Try searching Google for "MyGiG pink wire." You might find a write up about it.

I would much rather pay $199 for the Lockpick than to be cutting into the wiring harness but that's just me.

Lockpick would really assist parking with a front and rear camera installed. Although a new chin may be cheaper than the Lockpick and camera set-up.

It's call a mygiglock pick the cheapest place I found it was amazon 199.99 there is no cutting it took 30-45min tops u unplug the harness and put the lockpick in it's place and plug the harness back in the lockpic easy as 123

Hey everyone, I know this post is really old but I wanna let you guys know that if you have the REN (without the NAV) then this is how you do it:

(I did this on my 08 Charger that I sold about a year ago so this is how I remember you do it)

1. Put the dvd in and start playing it

2. Press Audio so the audio menu comes up

3. Put the car in drive

4. Return to the dvd and it should still be playing

Note: If it does not work, you probably have the updated firmware version. This was the case with my Charger. You can downgrade your version on this site: http://mofv.com/mygig/
You just download it and put in on a disk and pop it in the radio and follow the on screen instructions.

I am not sure exactly how far back you have to go on the versions to be able to exploit the hack. Just pick a pretty old version and try it out, if it does not work, go older.

just gotta ask, since you have the lock pick installed, does it do anything to your navigation system to not make it work so well. i had read some articles on this.
