I called a dealership today to ask them about performing this fix. They said that they don't have the software yet. Where can they get the software to do the fix? Anyone know any Atlanta area dealerships that DO have the software? After 4 months I'd be REALLY happy to finally get my iPhone working right in my car.
This update (TSB # 08-036-11) has been available to all the Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep dealerships thru their "Dealer Connect system". They are just being lazy. They all got it at the same time.
I have a Scion xB with integrated iPod controls in the steering wheel. I've found it to be just as easy, or even easier, to just use the AUX cable. I don't generally fiddle around with the music anyway because I have several playlists. Just start it and go.
Mine works in my Ram but only after I bought the correct cable. I tried to find the part number but could not. Once I got the correct cable it worked like a champ.
hello all, to those that are interested, I will have someone (mrjeep) post a link to the SW update. you will be able to DL it to a thumb drive and then connect the thumb drive to the USB connector for the iPod cable (do not use the 1 on the radio faceplate). The first thing you want to verify though is that you have a Uconnect module that has SW version 43.1.10 on it. If you look and see that it has SW version 43.1.30, it won't work. You will get an error recording about 5 minutes into it about the archive not being correct. The module is on the right side of the dash. Open the glove box (if it drops down far enough this should be good. If not then remove it, I don't want you breaking anything.) Look to the right of the IP and you will see a module that looks like the one attached to this post above this one.
For thos e with the 43.1.30 SW, hang tight, I am on vacation next week and will work on this when I get back.
1) First check to see which version of software your Uconnect came with. On my Patriot the module is behind the glove box and is easy to get to. I am not sure how easy this is to access on other vehicles.
Look at the SW number on the module. If you have SW 43.01.10 or 43.1.30, this update should work for you. This is where you find the SW number:
2) Download the file:
For US mid-large vehicles (Wrangler, Durango, Grand Cherokee, Town & Country van, RAM), download this file
For US small vehicles (Compass, Challenger, Patriot, Caliber, 200) download this file
4) Plug the usb drive into the vehicles remote USB port (NOT on the radio). It should be either in the center console or glove box
5) Press and hold the Uconnect Phone button for approx. 15 seconds, until you hear Software Update started
6) Wait until the update is completely finished (about 10-15 minutes or so) During this update, the radio will beep over and over (you can turn this down with the volume knob). If after about 5 minutes you hear "This file archive not compatible with this vehicle," than either you used the wrong download, OR your radio does not currently have an update available
Ramjaeger,
first you want to make sure that you have the SW version 43.1.10 and not the 43.1.30 (just to keep you from wasting your time. As I mentioned earlier the module is to the right of the glove box. Open it and remove it if needed in order to verify the SW version. I'll get mrjeep to guide you to the right version (it will be for the update of PN 68140634AA).
I will work on the 43.1.30 issues with some ENGs when I get back from vacation a week from Tuesday.
Uconnect guys would like some information to use to confirm issues with the 43.01.30 not updating. If you have the module that came with 43.1.30 SW in your vehicle, please post the following info:
Name (screen name is fine):
Vehicle:
Build date (this is on the drivers door tag, look for MDH):
Model of phone & SW:
Problem that you are having:
Please continue to add the same information on here by just copy & pasting below to add your information. EX:
Name (screen name is fine): menotyou
Vehicle: 2011 wrangler
Build date (this is on the drivers door tag, look for MDH): 5-14-20
Model of phone & SW: HTC EVO 4G --Android 2.2
Promblem that you are having: drops BT (bluetooth) connection & streaming audio plays fast
Thanks xsdbs and MrJeep - you guys are my heroes. I just performed the update and it worked 100%!!! I am so happy, after having my Challenger for months I can finally use my IPhone 4 with it properly. It is like my car finally feels whole
FYI I have a 2011 SRT8 Inaugural Edition Challenger manufactured in January with a 430N radio. I didn't actually look to see which PN my module had, I figured due to my early build date it had to be the older software. I used the update for "small" cars that you have listed.
Bluetooth streaming now works properly
I can now connect through the USB in the center console and it works every time
A couple of minor issues:
When you a track ends, you hear about half a second of the next track, then silence, then the next track begins. In other words, the transitions between tracks aren't smooth.
Also, sometimes when tracks change, the song information text either takes a few seconds to update, or sometimes doesnt update at all.
Finally, album art doesn't display properly.
All of these things are minor too me though. I'm just happy it finally works!!!
mrjeep - THANK YOU! I performed the update today, and it worked perfectly. My build date was in February, so I had the older version of the software. Bluetooth streaming audio finally works, which was really important to me. You saved me missing a half day of work to take it to the dealer, since they would not do this update on a weekend - thanks again! Ed
For someone (like myself) who is "technology challenged", is a thumb drive the same thing as a flash drive? And how do you download it on the car radio?
Thanks!
I am glad it is working for everyone, and I am happy to help. Thank you xsdbs for providing the files and instruction, and Uconnect guys for making an update for us
Yes thumb/flash/usb drive... it's all pretty much the same. Click the link appropriate for your vehicle, download the file to your computer, then drag and drop the file to your flash drive, plug the flash drive into your car's remote usb port in the glove box or center console, and continue with the rest of the instructions
For anyone else: I did run into a hiccup and that is that even though the thumb drive I used was empty before the file was copied over the car wouldn't accept it. I had to do a format. Good luck everyone.
ptgarcia, I performed the update with the car running. Since the service bulletin states that the battery voltage cannot drop below 13.2 volts during the update, and I do not have a battery charger, I figured the best route was to start the car and let it idle for the 20 minute update. That worked fine for me, not sure if others have had a different experience.
Everytime I tried the update I was in the garage, so I had the engine off with the key's in the ACC or ON/RUN position. I didn't know anything about the 13.2 volts... I just figured as long as the key is NOT in the lock position (radio will shut off during update), then you should be okay. You NEVER want things to shut off during software installation
Neither my wife nor I have an iPhone but I installed the update last night anyway. I just set the ignition in the accessories position, turned off the radio, plugged in the flash drive in the center console USB, then held the phone button on the radio face for a 5 count and it did its thing. Got the mail, pulled in the trash barrels, and fiddled with a couple Malibu lights in the front yard and by the time I got back to it it was done.
Hello Vynn,
The SW that you mentioned is the Radio SW and has nothing to do with the Uconnect SW. You need to look at the Uconnect module which is located to the right of the glove box. Open it and remove it if needed to view the module. You need to have SW 43.1.10 on the label in order for this update to work.
The other SW update that you listed is not Uconnect's either. You will perform the update using the USB connector that you plug an iPod into and not the one on the face of the radio.
My SW version is 29.03.62 (2010 Challenger SRT8), will this update work for me? The only USB port I can find is on the radio itself, I don't have one in my glove box and in the center console there's only 1 connector for an iPod/iPhone cable.
Update: Found an ISO file at the address below to update from 8.03.02 to 8.05.01 but BTSA still doesn't work.
Went to the dealer last Thursday to get my first oil change, and asked them to update the stereo while they were at it, because I had heard on here there was a update, they acted as if they had heard of the update. So my hopes were high that they would get it sorted out.
Unfortunately after all was said and done they told me there was not a update available. So I came away disappointed.
So being a tech savvy guy I took it into my own hands and followed the instructions on here. And now my iPhone 4 works perfectly. As someone said previously my car finally feels whole.
Thanks so much to those that provided the information.
vynn, I see. I must have missed something somewhere along the line. You have a 2010 vehicle and this update that we have been talking about is for the 2011 vehicles. There isn't an update for the 2010 vehicles. The 2010 Uconnect system only had iPod hookup thru the cable and did not have streaming audio. The radio in the 2010 did not support streaming audio controls (such as next & previous tracks, play, pause etc) until 2011.
MrJeep, thanks so much for taking the time to help a lot of other people out with this much anticipated update...music is one of my passions and it's so much easier to just carry around my iphone. Thanks again!!!
Gil
I had the dealer to the update for me (before I read this thread). Everything works well now in my 430N, except for the following:
If I link Bluetooth UConnect for my iPhone and ALSO connect my iPhone to the USB jack to play songs over the iPod, it will not allow both to occur at the same time.
I believe this is a limitation of the iPhone (or I have a setting wrong) because I can connect my iPod Nano to the USB port and have my iPhone linked Bluetooth to Uconnect, and the 430N plays nice with both of them.
Can anyone verify that the iPhone 3GS cannot be connected to Bluetooth (Uconnect phone) and USB (iPod streaming) at the same time?
Hello Heminator,
This does not sound correct. I will look into it and get back to you. May I ask what SW is on the iPhone?
Also please let me fully understand what you are doing. My understanding is that you have:
1) paired the iPhone 3 to the Uconnect system and would like the BT connection to be used for calls,
2) After had paired the phone you now want to plug the iPhone into the USB / iPod cable for your music. The reason probably for this method is to keep your battery charged and also better sound quality. (is this correct)
3) You now can only do 1 or the other, use the phone for calls or the iPod section for audio?
Can you explain to me what does happen when you try to use both?
Thank you
Okay, I have had good luck with the 43.1.30 SW update and will have mrjeep post it on the hosting site later today. The instructions will be the same as they were for the previous update for TSB# 08-036-11. You are actually receiving this update before the dealerships are because if they got the update first, they would have to wait to find the time to validate it and then put it on the Dealer Connect system. So if you have the 43.1.30 SW level don't even bother asking the dealers about it.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
