I've been considering the possibility of upgrading my 5.7 once the powertrain warranty expires. Mopar makes kits to up my 5.7's displacement to 6.4 (392 c.i.) or 6.7 (410 c.i.).
Questions:
1) What kind of horsepower/torque gains could I expect?
2) Would I need other changes - bigger throttle body, fuel rails?
3) Could I get away with keeping the stock cam and headers? (I have a Solo Mach X catback).

Questions:

2) Would I need other changes - bigger throttle body, fuel rails?
Stock both will be just fine..Save your money for a new Cam ;)
3) Could I get away with keeping the stock cam and headers? (I have a Solo Mach X catback).
The cam is the heart of these motors,IMO you would not be very happy with just adding the cubes alone.. The gains would be marginal.
A 392 with a decent Cam and heads would easily put you in the 460 rwhp range. And with great driveabilty as well
EDIT:: I just realized you have a VVT motor. You could always sell your 5.7 and contact Modern muscle and drop in new 392. And the only Cam out there that may benifit you would be the 392 Cam. Other then that I have yet to see a cam make any real power on the VVT motors. Just my 0.2
Or go with a 6.1 base motor. Then the selection is alot more cam wise

How much boost are you running iron? Your set up seems to be exactly what I will shoot for when the funds are here.

PM or call Andy @ PWR. Arrington or PWR would be a much better choice than a Mopar kit.

Djr, you see Iron 6, cant go wrong there. Once you go the route you do. You will need an SHR Viking trans and MTCM. Do the TC with it, makes a huge diffrence. IMO
Iron6, youll be knocking 10s very, very, soon. mtcm is a big key to it. ya know. :browsmiley:

I know I may be sounding like a complete idiot, but what is all entailed in getting a 5.7 forged? Is it pretty much getting a new engine or just pistons, sleeves, fuel rails, and such?
Any response would be valued greatly either here or thru a PM.

I have a brand new set of forged Mahle low comp. stroker pistons and rings (for supercharged or turbo cars ONLY) for the 6.1 motor ONLY. These are $750+ pistons that make for 426 cubes. Just call up and ask Arrington or Procharger how much HP a 426 cube will make with 12+lbs of boost on 91 octane and a tune.
Job change has forced me to make the SRT8 my work car so $$ going into old Chally Conv. R/T
Thanks....
