GM Truck Central did an analysis of oil filters. The top four were:

1. Fram Xtended Guard XG5
2. Mobil 1
3. Royle Purple
4. K & N and Amsoil

I've heard the regular Fram filter is sub-par, but I guess their top of the line one is better.

Wix filters all the way.....racing stocks cars every Saturday nite for years, cut plenty of filters open, I wouldn't use anything else

Agree with Steve. Been Using Wix Filters for years in our race cars.

I have been using a filter from BND Automotive. They have the best attributes of the best filters combined into one. And yes Wix is a great choice also.;)

+1 unless it is the viper oil filter by Dodge! Not sure if the Viper Oil filter fits the 6.4 but if it does, good to use it!

I have heard the Viper filter is almost mandatory on the built 3rd Generation Hemi (race cars). But they are running the older (pre 2008) blocks that have 3/4-16 thread. I have been using Wix filters on my drag race car (440 Mopar based), and those are cut open and inspected after every filter change.

Now, which to use on my 3rd Gen 5.7 Hemi street 2009 Challenger???

The new Napa Platinum filters are excellent, they're made with the same media and in the same American plant as the AMSoil EaO filter. I use them on my Cummins and will be using one on the Challenger with the next oil change.

There are some videos on you tube, where guys cut apart alot of different brands of oil filters, the results showed that Wix was a really good filter at any price.
