: SRT from the factory with T/A hood?
BrightSRT8 12-19-2011, 06:53 AM Can you now or could you get the Mopar T/A hood and scoop from the factory on a SRT8 Challenger? I see the new R/t's at the dealer have them, and of course you can buy the hood. Just curious if you could get a SRT with the hood. How about dealer installed, anyone have one on a SRT?
mustang65 12-19-2011, 08:36 AM I think the mopar appearance package you can get with the r/t,have not seen a srt come with the hood, but possible i guess with an ordered car?

I'm about to buy the hood with the big center scoop and functional ducts to where the CAI box is. It comes in primer black so I'll have to get it painted B5.
The real issue is....where the hell do I put the stock hood?
Gahhhhh...................
70barcuda 12-19-2011, 08:38 PM It never came from the factory on the SRT although a few guys have adapted them somehow. It is my understanding that there is a bit of an issue with it fitting on the SRT, so before ordering you better verify that it will fit. There's a good chance that someone that knows for sure will chime in here. If not I'd have your dealership look into it for you.

I told the parts guys at the dealer I will do a "dry fit" as I was concerned about the runners on the intake of the 2009 6.1 being different that the 2010 and there might be a clearance problem
I measured a 2010 and it appears it will not be problem....but....until I do a "dry fit" I won't know, which is why I talked to them first!

Let us know how it goes. I am getting this hood for my SRT also, and can't see the hood being an issue, just the cold air underhood part which I won't use on this car. I was just wondering if there was someone out there who had a SRT from the factory with the hood or maybe dealer installed when new? Pics of any SRT's with the hood would be cool.

I just did built a 12x47 additon on the "Mother of All Man Caves", just to have a place to put the Road Runner. I call it the "Bird's Nest"!

I guess I can use part of it for Challenger "new but not used" parts. I have the stock exhaust, stock air cleaner, and stock shifter, so I guess I can add the stock hood.
Next thing I'll have to add another addition, except I'm running out of real estate!

I first saw one on a Mopar 10 at the dealership where I bought my SRT. The ducting for the hood scoop comes over to a box that appears to be the exact one I have on mine after I installed the Mopar Performance CAI. But I have to get the "hood in hand" before I'll know for sure.
That's why I making sure that the parts department knows buying the hood and the ducting (about 2 grand more or less) is going to be contingent on fitting my SRT.
BrightSRT8 12-20-2011, 08:52 AM Nice addition to the garage, and nice 72 RR, is it a "U" code car?
Let us know on the hood.
Would still like to see some SRT's with the TA hood?
Heywood 12-24-2011, 11:00 PM They never came with the T/A hood or the go-wing.
From what has been said from Dodge..
At the speeds that the SRT will hit, the front Fascia, and rear wing actually are functional. That's why it was never a factory option.
Now, the hood may be a concern as well. That's why you never see them. If you are doing it to an SRT, you might want to consider hood pins as well. I've seen video's where there was a bit of wind problems with the sunroof trying to lift at about 155/160 mph. Personally I haven't had this issue with mine at speed.
I can only imagine the force of the T/A hood will cause to the light weight hood at those speeds.
That's probably the main reason you do not, and will not see a T/A hood or Go-Wing on an SRT---- Function and safety over fashion. It's your car so do what you want, but your not helping it and could crate a hazard for yourself.
As for the intake, No difference between the 08 to 2010 that I'm aware of.
BrightSRT8 12-25-2011, 09:01 AM A lot of good info. I've had the car to 140mph, but I can't see doing that to often, or going faster, there just isn't any where safe to do it. I did buy a TA hood from a Dodge dealer here in south Denver, and will paint it body color and am going to tie in the carbon fiber stripes from the front fascia and run them back over the hood and scoop, trying to make it look factory, while not altering the car in any way. I'll keep the stock hood, but want something unique for now. Thanks

I saw once a 2011 IE white SRT8 Challenger for sale at the dealership with the T/A hood.
It was listed online.
GreatAmerican 12-29-2011, 01:19 PM The Mopar T/A hood will fit on the SRT with no problem. However, the underhood ducting does not clear the 6.1L Hemi.
moparmike1 02-15-2012, 06:11 AM Hi,
In case some members are still unsure, the Mopar T/A hood with the underhood ducting kit will work with a SRT. I added these to my 2009 and here's my post with a few pictures:
http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f19/functional-t-hood-6-1-srt8-64784/#post897784
The only modification was to trim the CAI bracket as I found it slightly touched the part of the ducting that reaches over to the filter.
Hope this helps someone.
Mike.

How about dealer installed, anyone have one on a SRT?I have been in communication with a carbon fiber fabracator about a T/A Hood made for the 6.1 and 6.4 SRT8, if I can find enough interest he says that we can use a stock SRT8 hood and the T/A hood to make a T/A Hood that will fit without modification. I bought one of his twin scoop Challenger hoods and it fit without modification. I believe he can do it. Let me know if you would be interested in owning one.

Johnnie

Yup...440, 4bbl, A/T, factory air. Bought it brand new!
I just saw a post that details and has pix of a hood with the functional scoop on an '09 SRT.
