Ok, im pulling my hair out! I purchased a mygig ren touch screen unit out of a 2009 Chrysler 300, it is a low bus unit. I installed it in my 2012 R/T challenger, which is also a low bus system, after i plugged it up the green light around the know started to flash, and nothing turned on, also my car would not start. I unpluged it and put my factory unit back in and all is well. Really would like the mygig to work, any suggestions? Just some info, my car has uconnect with voice activation. Please help, and tell me i didnt waste my money on this unit.

Thanks

Did you double check your connections and try it again? The Low Speed should work unless there is something wrong with the unit you bought. I hope it came with a warranty or money back for DOA.

Good luck.

Make sure the wiring harness is fully plugged in (it may seem plugged in but you really have to push on the connector)

Also make sure the ant. is plugged in (major ground for head unit)

Just thinking out loud here so take it with a grain of salt. Are the Mopar radio units VIN locked like those from GM? It may be necessary to take it to the dealer for a program.

No they aren't locked. I have swapped out several and never had an issue. Hopefully it is just a connection issue.

Any update OP?

I was told locked units start in 2012....the radio holds the key code..not PCM...if you have key code...it can go into any car...any older unit will work no matter.. if and only if its a LOW speed....are you sure its a low speed...post the part number and I can tell you..putting in a High speed radio will render the car useless...nothing will work..I know this because I went to purchase a used mygig from someone who said it was low speed..before purchase...I place radio in car and same exact thing happen to me as original poster....I asked an engineer and he told me the same thing....car wont work with High speed

different bus speed, nearly all 2010 and prior year electronics will not work on 2011 and newer vehicles, in some instance it may function, but the chance of having major glicthes is very high if not almost certain...

in 2011 Chrysler initiated a major change in our vehicles, it is possible that certain components will function, however the possibility for malfunctions and for lack of better words, bizarre issues to occur is very high.....

example, the wiring harness being routed too close to the coils on a hemi can cause emf interference causing the pcm to momentarilly reset, vehicle stalls and no codes present, cannot have any codes since the pcm was reset, which is also what caused the vehicle to stall......imagine the possibilities.....for example installing an aftermarket radio could cause significant repurcussion in the vehicle's computer system, the days of tickering and doing whatever is long gone, you better know what your doing or you could have some significant issues

now from a dealership standpoint, imagine someone has modified a vehicle or as had a major repair performed, a ground is not installed properly, a connector not fully seated, harness pinched, etc, those situation could be causing a concern with a component that in no way can be related....happens every day, and customers get really upset when a good tech has chased his tail for hours only to find something modified or not properly reinstalled by someone else

this happens everyday, worst when a local garage has been poking wiring and messing with components for days before we get the vehicle

in your case with an earlier version radio, it may work, it may not work, or worst starts causing some issue in your vehicle that would appear to have no relation to a radio, yet is related, for all i know it will work fine....

fleet customers tend to buy basic(stripped) vehicles and upgrade the radio to nav for convenience, in order to buy the vehicle with the mygig radio, you also have to buy convenience group package that are significantly expensive,

in 2011 we had a lot of fleet customer upset because we could not supply the new radios seperatelly and we were told repeadtly not to try to use the earlier radios, now will they work, maybe, however it isnt recommended

on the other end, that vehicle goes into the dealership for a driveability concern, after numerous dollars spent the issue is trace back to the radio
who is responsible for the bill???

Ok, I just found out the unit I have is a High bus, the guy I bought it from lied. I would like to trade this unit for a low speed one, preferably one with navigation. Any takers?

Just what I thought...trade High speed for Low?...good luck on that one...anyone here would be in same boat as you...needing a Low speed...your best bet is to try and sell it and buy a Low speed. Thing is, do you even know it works? Find someone with a Ram or Mini van. Plug it in, take pics or video of info screen with serial number as proof to buyer. How much will you want for it?

Before you by another radio, either google the part number for compatability or post it in here and ask if it will work or not....

No argument, but 2011+ LX/LD radios are totally different platforms than our Mygigs. They wont fit, let alone work in our cars. It's become a 3 part system now. They have a center stack upper(screen),center stack lower(controls), and radio.

Model P05064401AK is low speed bus. According to that chart above, it should be OK. Shows the Challengers didn't get the new bus system.

Just to let you know...Thats radio is a 2008 model only...if it matters to you....about as old as they come...dont know what kind of cash they are asking..but you can get something newer for around 500-600...also..you my want to check this post out...for 550.00 this is your best bet if you have hands free in your car...RHB's are plug and play...no extra wiring needed..
