Hello,

Seeking help from fellow forum members here. On a beautiful Easter here in Central Indiana, I got out the Challenger and we drove it to church and to my in-laws' house afterwards for lunch. My boys received a gift of a little "AirHogs" remote controller helicopter, which they took outside to fly around. The wind got a hold of it, and it came down quickly on my Challenger in the driveway. Fortunately, it is very lightweight and landed on the white vinyl stripes on the roof (I have an IE 392). It left some black marks (see pictures), which are not just rubbing out with detailer spray. I was considering trying some Goo-Gone, but thought I would check here first before I put any type of chemical on her.

Thoughts on getting these marks out? I have been so careful with her - storage for the winter, only drive on dry days, kept under a cover in the garage, "safe" parking spots only in public, etc. I hate to have any blemishes on her, and this seems pretty minor.

Thanks again.

I am only familiar with Adams polishes, so please keep that in mind.

First thing I would try is Fine Machine Polish on a blue applicator pad.

Then some Brilliant Glaze to try and clean them up.

Watch the Vid and you will see what I am talking about.

I believe that Adams polishes are indeed the best!

Being that they are white, you might try one of those magic eraser sponges. They work amazing to buff marks off of various surfaces. I am not sure what it may do to gloss of the vinyl so I would definitely recommend testing in a nonconspicous spot first as I suspect it will knock the sheen down. But of course that would probably be preferred over having black marks.

Definitely would not recommend goo gone as that product is designed to break down adhesives and is probably not vinyl friendly.

What Chrys7 said. I did exactly what he said with Adams products when I had bird crap stain on my rear stripe. Worked like a charm! Turned out so nice I did the rest of the stripes and they have never looked better. In fact they look better than the day I picked up the car.

Just to clarify... do these appear to just be some sort of minor surface transfer on top of the vinly stripe? Assuming it is something like that, then you should be able to remove the marks. I would try starting with the least aggressive approach, and in this case you have already tried wiping the marks off with quick detailer, and had no luck. That was a good logical starting point, and my next step would probably be to try removing the marks by gently working an APC solution with a soft small brush. If that didn't work, then I would probably move towards doing some spot correction by hand with a very fine polish.

Good luck!

I am sorry to hear this, especially that it happened from your boys :(
I hope that with the polish you will be happy from the results. By the way, they are not showing too much, you can ignore them...
