: Chip/flaked paint, help?
Shifty11 04-25-2012, 08:27 PM So some of you know i recently bought my car, anyways, today while taking off the stripes with my brother, i noticed on the front bumper above the grill but under that lip (so not able to be seen unless looking up at it) some of the paint is chipped and flaky if not flaked off. Now im not too worried about it at all, but im just wondering whats the best way to go about fixing this so it doesnt turn into a bigger problem? I felt it a little bit and some of the paint around it is still sort of lose, but i didnt mess with it any more. Any suggestions? Maybe touch up paint? its a decent size part of the paint gone (about the length of a debit card and maybe a width of 2cm. Im mostly worried about it getting worse while washing the car due to its flaky-ness. I dont know when it happened but i noticed it while taking my stripes off so it could have been then since i bought it.

Here you go, it is a little difficult to see, but its the area that isnt glossy.
First picture it takes up most of the picture, 2nd one. not so much, its right under the lip. and is only noticeable if your looking up at it.
Keep it Shifty, it is not something that can be easily seen. Keep it my friend.
Shifty11 05-01-2012, 07:29 PM Eh, Im just worried about it flaking into something worse.

R/TCLASSIC 05-03-2012, 08:03 PM you could put a little clear coat over it,that will probably keep it from flaking more
82BrewCrew 05-03-2012, 08:33 PM Duct tape...fixes everything :)

Murdered11 05-04-2012, 11:25 AM looks like your clear is peeling. Is it to the primer or do you still have color there. sometimes things don't get prepped well enough and the clear doesnt take, then later starts flaking and peeling. if it is the clear, there is nothing you can do but hide it or repaint it. Dont use duct tape, when you pull it off it will take more clear with it. The dealership most likely wont warranty it, because you removed the stripes.
garylee 05-04-2012, 11:52 AM If it is in the matt black and the original finish, it is not clearcoated. Did you peel it up taking off the stripes. If it is not in the area where you took the stripes off, it is a warranty claim. 3-36 bumper to bumper warranty. Even if you are not the original owner.
Shifty11 05-04-2012, 04:38 PM Its all the way down to the plastic.
Dodge took pictures and is going to call me back to see if they can fix it.
Its not really where i took the stripes off, its more too the right. They dont see a problem with doing it under warranty but they have to check with the "big guys" upstairs about it.
