I'm looking for an "easy" mod that will make the beast a little louder. I'm not overly concerned with HP gains and all that, but I want to make it roar a little bit. A few issues...
I don't want to ruin the experience of driving the car. The V8 has a great sound now, but sometimes its too quite. Some have spoke of the awesomeness of "cut outs" and I wanted to get more info on these.
I have some concerns that I've had bad exhaust experiences in the past. Cat backs creating big drone in the car, half-assed installs that left my exhaust all screwed up for years.
Basically, I'd like to hear more about cut outs, who offers them, where are there good installers, and the whole deal. Videos, pics, etc are also helpful. I love the possibility of keeping the smooth exhaust note of stock when I want it, and having a serious blast of pain when I want to let it rip.

I had my rear resonators cut out yesterday and reused my tips. It was $100 to do. Sounds incredible. At idle it is 95% as quite as stock. Tap the gas though and it roars! It definitely has a drone right at 2000 rpm's, which in my 6 spd is right around 80 mph. At 75 its about 15% louder than stock. Not bad at all. But when getting on it hard it is pretty loud, but the sound is pure sex.

Cutouts are "the beast unleashed" loud. As such, you can't be concerned with the noise coming out of the engine. It will drone. It's not for comfortable highway commuting unless you love the sound of a raw V8 hemi. Sitting at idle is about as loud as some of the more mild catback systems at 3-4k rpms. I've had a cutout on my hemi ram for 4 years. I love it. I only close it when I'm coming into the neighborhood after dark. It's embarrassingly loud for the first week or so, but once you get used to it, it's great. I remember that I'd find myself going easy on the gas pedal just so I wouldn't scare old ladies during a slow acceleration from a red light.
The only way to get louder is open headers. A cam swap just changes the pitch and frequency.

I did my exhaust on Monday. Movie coming in a few days...........
2.5" to new mufflers, 3" tailpipes after them & 2 more shorty 3" mufflers, stainless quad tips. Best sounding new Challenger I've heard bar none.
