: MyGig Lockpick Front And Rear Camera Problem
Hemi 007 05-18-2012, 05:02 PM Ok Today i took Mr Challenger, who is a 2009 6 speed SRT8 to a licensed installer, we get everything hooked up but the cameras are blank. In my EVIC it says no signal. THis is the version 4 lock pick. All the menus are there , TV, front cam, rear cam, etc, but no cameras just says no signal with a blank screen . Anyone care to share. Also I had Carlos from coastal tech on the phone, we checked all connections which seem to be fine, but he could not answer why the cameras are not working, also he said my radio input could be defective, ??????? No everything on my RER works fine but his Lockpick. Anyone want to chime in Please Help!!!!!!!
raVenX 05-18-2012, 05:57 PM Check the dip switches on the Lockpick device to make sure each switch is in its proper place (up or down). One switch controls whether to turn the camera on or off.
Also, since you have it installed already, can you view DVD's while in DRIVE. That might go a long way in determining whether or not the Lockpick is even functioning properly. You do need to activate the Lockpick by holding down a combination of buttons I believe. Prolly best to check that first to see if you can play a DVD while driving.
Also, you might try to power the radio on and off again. There is a hide mode that is activated/unactivated by cycling the power button. For instance, activated you can watch DVD's. Unactivated, it's just a normal radio with no special features.
Lastly, I would check to make sure you have power to the camera. If it is via a fuse tap, maybe move it to another fuse location.
Give those a shot and see what happens. Hopefully it's something that simple.
Good luck!
Hemi 007 05-19-2012, 07:37 AM The Challenger uses low speed connections so in the instructions it says dip switch, 1 down always, 2 and 3 up always for low speed, 4 up and for switch 5 it says To Block Video in Motion (Dealer Mode) place switch 5 down to block all Video viewing while in motion, then it says Navigation address input and camera use while in motion is not blocked so we left Switch 5 Up. I did try a DVD in the Car last night and could not get it to play in motion but while parked it would play the DVD but the audio was a little fuzzy and i could not pan the sound from left to right or from front to back. The power is connected to the harness crimp connectors not a fuse panel. But everything else on my system , is working, am, fm, sat, nav, etc.
the727kid 05-19-2012, 04:15 PM Trust the installer? Sounds like it's not hooked up right.
Zixxer 05-19-2012, 04:44 PM After I installed mine, despite the lockpick setup, I had to enable rear view camera in the factory setup menu....then it all worked.

yu4ia 05-20-2012, 12:41 PM Did You follow the instructions on how to activate, holding down phone button 7 seconds then power knob 2 times to get front camera on. I dont have the link for the proper instructions. My installer had a little hassle with front camera then i showed the drawings that my single plug had to go into a double Rca plug, in minutes he had it running.
Good luck
It should be an easy plug and play, try the activate sequences b4 opening her up again to check dip switches
yu4ia 05-20-2012, 12:51 PM Dvd should work fine in drive, sound should be excellent, I have my eagles DVD concert in there all the time.and input on of an address while driving should be also working. To view rear cam just put in Reverse no need to use screen to access the cam. Pressing phone button twice while driving will turn on rear cam.

As a junior member, you may or may not have a lot of faith in my expressing a similar situation recently encountered with my new R/T plus. You may, however, cut me a little "slack" when I disclose the fact that I purchased by first Challenger within two weeks of my discharge, at a time when Richard Nixon was President and that "pesky situation in SE Asia was still the defining issue of the day - that is, I'm w-a-y over 21 lol !!
Having chosen to preface the following comments with a near-geriatric self-description, I attempted to offset my junior status and gain your confidence with regard to my similar Lockpick/camera conundrum of one week ago.
As most of you know, the device itself and any/all peripheral devices are simple to install...as it applies to the cable in/cable out (12v/GND/RCA[s]) themselves. I'm always relatively certain that any/all previous or present Lockpick users would agree that the biggest hurdles that cause improper installs revolve around cam mountings, issues with wire runs, and settings - both on the Lockpick itself, and on occasion the Mygig "head" as well.
Due to a bad back, I decided to opt for a professional (??) install at a local electronics store here in SW Michigan. They sell everything from aftermarket nav units, radios, multi-function media centers, alarms, radar detectors.........you name it. They, however, had never heard of the existence of the Lockpick.
Realizing that, and essentially looking for someone to simply mount and connect cameras, in addition to crawling around running wire, I took it upon myself to remove my RHR unit, introduce the lockpick by way of the T-harness and mount it (via cable tie,) behind the glove box door. Although I was without mounted cameras, I successfully tested both front and rear electrically in addition to the other basic Lockpick functions. ALL was well. Note that I had previously installed an earlier version than the current V.5 which I purchased in a 2009 300 Limited that I sold and replaced with the R/T.
Feeling really good, and having a sub-$100 over the phone quote "ringing" in my ear, I pulled into the installers with plans to pick up the finished install in about an hour (give or take 30 minutes) based on their estimate. I walked to a nearby air-conditioned restaurant and probably drank 5 or 6 glasses of Diet-Coke (I did leave a $5 tip for the waitress) in an attempt to cleanse my conscience of taking advantage of their free soda-pop refill policy lol.
After returning to the install shop an hour+ later, my car still wasn't ready so I waited almost another hour before I approached the manager to ask "What in the world is happening?) He assured me that everything was under control -and- my quote was intact despite the posted hourly shop rates.
Feeling a little anxious at this point, I went for a walk to do some "window shopping" so as to kill another 1/2 hour or so. I passed a bar, and for the first time is almost 15 years, I wished that I had never quit drinking or smoking. Man.........the thought of a double (or more lol) Johnnie Walker Black Label and a Pall Mall Red sounded better than manna. An "almost DWI" caused me to completely stop drinking 14-15 years ago -and- I decided to "double-down" and give up the tobacco too. It wasn't easy, but I did it and would have to have a gun held on me to break my vows.
I returned to the install shop and they STILL were having problems. 3+ hours now and no end in sight. I was fed up, confused, and told them rather bluntly to put my car back together and allow me to GO. The manager relented and let me enter the "sacred" install area. I told these guys to wrap it up as I had had it. Despite my "tone" hear, I did not raise my voice to the young guys who were desperately trying to make this thing work. After all they're just trying to make a living, had never seen a Lockpick and had successfully performed the physical mountings and cable runs to the cable harness.
The manager apologized and offered to let me go without a charge. I took him up on his offer -but- slipped each installer a "twenty" for having accomplished something. I was angry, but couldn't "stick" the kids completely.
Ok...ok...cut to the chase already............
In retrospect, I believe the entire problem was based on the fact that they DID NOT disconnect the negative battery terminal (they admitted that) and as such, the CANBUS - MyGIG interface "lost its mind;" much like a stubborn PC that simply HAS to be subjected to a hard restart. Note too that I had a check engine light illuminated on a car with 88 miles on the odometer. My anxiety climbed to the cliff until I got home to see what I could do.
I opened the trunk, said a prayer, and disconnected the neg. cable with the intent of leaving it disconnected until I checked the Lockpick switch (and camera electrical) connections. Everything seemed to be physically correct with regard to wire/RCA connections.
15-20 minutes later, I reconnected the negative battery cable. Now, and prior to trying anything, other than a second mini-prayer, I grabbed my old trust digital multi-meter and verified that all connections (excluding RCAs) were reading either DC voltage present or continuity as it applies to GND. All was good, so I took a deep breath, pressed the pushbutton start and VOILA' almost everything worked like a charm. Check engine light disappeared as well (was hoping it would regardless of the Lockpick being connected.) Had one minor problem with an RHR function so, after shutting down the engine, I entered the Mygig Engineering mode and performed a system reset. Started the engine a second time and EVERYTHING WORKED !!
Gentlemen...........that's my story and I'm stickin' to it !!
FINAL THOUGHT: Aside from any other modifications, DO NOT even air the tires, refill the windshield washer reservoir, add coolant or check the oil without FIRST DISCONNECTING the NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE !!

Thanks for your exellent story, sir. I salute your service (me, an Army E-6). I will HEED your negative battery warning. Sounds like good 'IT computing' advice. This *will* be the most expensive computer I have ever purchased.
Lord Warlock 07-16-2012, 09:37 PM something to check for is also the harness for the lockpick that plugs into the back of the radio, when i installed mine, i thought i had it seated properly, but ended up having to pull the radio out pull out the harness and plug it back in, seating it firmly in position, it went in slightly further the 2nd time, and after bolting it back up it worked just fine. Just be sure the plug is all the way into the back of the radio, sometimes it isn't all the way in and that would also cause nothing to work. (the radio itself came on just fine, but the lockpick didn't work when the harness wasn't seated all the way in).
ocifferdave 07-16-2012, 09:50 PM ...(the radio itself came on just fine, but the lockpick didn't work when the harness wasn't seated all the way in).
Good to know. Thanks.
