I was wondering if anyone had any experience with keeping the stock resonators on the 2012 3.6L but changing the mufflers to an after market company such as magnaflow or flowmaster 40/44? I want to add a bit of a rumble but nothing too loud or with too much drone.

Videos would be great. Thank you.

I've been doing a lot of research on this exact thing. I've talked to a lot of places and listened to a lot of YouTube videos. I'm trying to get a really low, deep sound without any interior noise or whiny tinny sound.

I'm just throwing my .02 in here because everyone has their own thoughts on this subject. I was at Muffler Shop this week and talked to a guy who had pretty much installed "everything on everything" as he put it. He told me that adding any of the Flowmasters will give you a really loud tinny sound as soon as you step on the throttle (just the way the Flowmasters sound on these cars). They recommended either:

A) Replacing the stock resonators with glass packs to give a very, very slight increase in sound

B) Replacing the mufflers at the back with very small Offset mufflers which will give you a small sound increase (but not much since there's not much distance for the sound to travel).

C) Replacing the resonators with a lower-volume muffler like a FloPro Max or a Dynomax VT muffler. This will give the best sound increase but also give the most chance of a interior sound as well.

Hope this helps. I'm thinking I'm going to go with Option C.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll just keep searching until I find exactly what I'm looking for. I really want to avoid that loud tinny sound as I'm sure a lot of people on here do.
