i have had my procharger on my 09 srt 8 for a little over 2 years now with the stock tune and had little problems. The shop who did the work for me calls me the other day and says that cooks headers have some long tube headers out that when installed with the procharger wont throw any 02 codes and i will gain around 30rwhp. i told them i would do my research and get back with them....the first thing i did was a search on this website and i must say i found some horror stories of people going to far with there modifications and having all kind of problems. i would prefer to not be in that group so i called procharger for more convincing. they told me that the tune that i am running was made for the car the way it is now with the original shorty headers. they said if i add long tube cook headers that what would happen is that 1) i would lose boost(that could be made up by changing the pulley) and 2) due to the decrease in restriction and improved flow of exhaust out of the car that most likely the headers would cause a lean mixture that the computer could not compensate for thus causing a check engine light....that would only be fixed by the shop doing there own custom tune. i called the shop back and told them and they said that the challenger already runs on the rich side with the tune that comes with the kit and that adding the headers should be ok. like i said at the begiinning due to some of the horror stories i have ready on hear i am wondering is it really worth it to take the risk and would i really notice any gains in long tube vs short tube headers..... i did not know that headers could have such a profound effect on a tune of a car

The long tube headers aren't the problem. The problem is the high flow cats that go with the headers. The stock shorty headers are very efficient. If you install the Kooks headers, you will have CEL codes associated with the rear O2 sensors. There is a fix for that problem: minicats and extenders from Biddaddies Garage. Also, if you install the LT headers, you will need to get a CMR tune.
The claim of 30rwhp from LT headers is dubious.
I have Kooks LT headers on one car and JBA LT headers on another car. Both cars had issues with CEL codes.

I wouldn't recommend getting LT headers. The factory headers are very efficient. And yes, we eventually corrected the CEL issues. We had no choice because I had to pass emissions inspection. The choice was either correct the CEL issue or revert back to factory headers.

The longtube header sound was more than worth it for me and when you can see them hiding behind the front wheels... mmm sexy burnt blue stainless steel gives me a hard-on ... Just my opinion of course. No idea on gains or anything of that nature. I'm also running catless minds and a Vortech unit.

No testing, No cats here either. Made .4th faster in 1/4 mile times by catless alone.
I also had to add fuel when I choped them out. Went from 11.0 to 11.9af till i fatened her up to 10.9 11.0 af

luke i find your response interesting you are running a blower and you say you have no ideas on gains this tells me that you probably did not feel an immediate difference in the way it drives but you did in the way it sounds also flat top the exact thing i am scared of happened with you ...when you added the headers you started running to lean and had to add fuel .....my issue is i am unwilling to go outside of the tune that procharger sends with there kit so i think you guys have convinced me to be content with what i have......i am sure grateful to be a member of this site ...you guys have saved me from a possible big mistatke....and saved me some money
