So I have a 2012 6 speed and I see around the forums that a lot of people upgrade to hurst shifter kits. I like the looks of the plain ball shifter but here is my question what is the advantage of hurst over stock? There has to be a performance upgrade as they aren't exactly cheap. I'm not too knowledgable at these things. Does it just shift smoother?

Thanks for any info.

Not smoother, more precise. The factory shifters are vague and built for soccer moms in my opinion. They are quiet, and mushy and compliant. The Hurst is manly. Loud (unless you take some steps to correct), precise and fast. It was my first mod as I felt the factory shifter was the weakest link in the whole car. Drive a car with one if you have any doubts but I am sure you will find it money well spent. They show up here used from time to time if.you are not in a hurry.

What do you mean louder?

Some gear noise gets transmitted through the shifter. I don't find it objectionable. I kinda like it.

I agree. It's a muscle car and certain sounds and feels go along with that.

Go to local car shows in your area or a local Challenger CC and I'm sure you'll find one with the Hurst shifter kit. Do yourself a favor and don't spend the money on just the short lever, it does shorten the throw but does nothing for precision and feel.
Don't take my word for it, feel it for yourself.

Take Juve's advice, but I would take his word. I love mine. It's a pricey mod but worth it.
