: almost bought shelby gt500
GoFastChallenger 06-18-2012, 07:48 PM I went to a couple ford dealerships today and spent about 5 hours haggling with the sales men. I feel like haggling is my favorite part about buying the car its really fun for me lol... does anyone else get that feeling? I almost feel empowered while im there. anyways, i got them down to 46,000 plus T/T/T plus giving me 38,000 for my 2012 srt8 with 9700 miles. the other deal i had worked out was 49000 out the door and 40,800 for my car. I ended up walking out of both deals to see which one is going to call me and try to bargain a bit more but I had them pullin the cars out getting them ready it was almost funny watching them prepare little did they know I wasnt buying just yet. hopefully tomorrow they will call with an even better deal and I will definitely be jumpin ship.
GoFastChallenger 06-18-2012, 07:54 PM heres a few pics that my buddy sent me with me checking out the car today. (not the greatest pics ever but oh well at least its something to look at)50325
johnnyy 06-18-2012, 08:03 PM i traded an 2011 gt500 for my 2012 challenger srt8. challenger is more driveable for daily use . i would not go back unless it was a weekend car.
SRT8Tech 06-18-2012, 08:29 PM I got almost 40k for my 2011 392 and 49k OTD for a 2012 SVTPP and Recaro GT500. Sounds like about the same deal they are trying to give you. There may be better deals out there but hard to find right now on a GT500. Looks like the one in the pic is a base GT500 with electronincs package.
The deal they are doing sounds about right. Might get a little bit more off of the car if you hold out. :)
If you dont mind driving a stick all the time and a little less room in the front compared to the Challenger then there is no problem. Of course there isnt as much rear seat space and trunk space either but I didnt need that anymore. The ride is really not that bad either. My 2011 392 didnt have that much of a better ride to it. The GT500 is definately a different animal than the Challenger though. The Challenger is a muscle car while the GT500 is a sports/"pony" car. Either way, if you keep the Challenger or get the GT500 you cant go wrong.
GoFastChallenger 06-18-2012, 09:37 PM thanks alot tech for the insight... im 23, not really ready for a family so I dont need to worry about back seat space as i bought the challenger because i didnt want people riding in my car anymore(they just mess it up) im really just looking for the power and ability to make the car my own
Nation55 06-18-2012, 10:12 PM thanks alot tech for the insight... im 23, not really ready for a family so I dont need to worry about back seat space as i bought the challenger because i didnt want people riding in my car anymore(they just mess it up) im really just looking for the power and ability to make the car my own
I'm only 24 and think my Redline is the sh*t! Must be exhilarating to be able to go Shelby shopping! Hope you get the deal you want! Post pics when/if ya get one, those cars are slick!
JS23V0B 06-19-2012, 05:39 AM You should be able to get really good deals on 2012 GT500s, a used one with 2,100 miles went for $41,000 in May. Lots of people dumping them for 2013s and taking a beating on their trade.
SRT8Tech 06-19-2012, 07:32 AM If you can get one for invoice that would be killer. Its right around 44-45k for the base GT500. I dont think many dealers are selling them for less than invoice riight now. I think the 2k dealer incentive is gone now too for the 2012 Shelbys.
GAFETTAIA 06-19-2012, 08:18 AM I couldn't decide whether to trade my 2010 Challenger SRT8 or my 2000 Corvette for the GT500, so I traded my 2000 Corvette.
I think the SRT8 is a better daily driver, but both are great, and right from the factory.

Let both of them know that when they are ready to strike a fair deal on the car to give you a call, but until then don't waste your time. Give them a few days they will call. :icon_biggrin:
GoFastChallenger 06-19-2012, 08:34 AM It is very exciting to be shelby shopping, the one in the pictures is a base model with electronics package. I dont think the base is the one I will be purchasing, SVTPP is the one for me which is 49000 but I can get 40,800 for my car plus i need brakes and tires which would put me around 44000 for my car. 5000 difference... no sweat:blueblob:

Great things are headed our way, don't do it. Even so, your 392 is the meanest car out there. There is a mustang on every corner! I bought a 2012 GT500 SVTPP, because I was mad at Dodge for locking us out of the computer. I had sold a 2010 SRT Challenger that I outfitted with a vortech sc. I will admit, the Shelby had a cooler looking interior and when I drove it, it was very cool - something different and fun, no doubt about it! So I bought it! I thought that was the best decision. I did a pulley and tune and it was that much more fun!
THEN, within 6 months the fun factor continued to decline. I couldn't keep the rubber attached to the road; the road noise inside the Shelby is that of a 25k vehicle; and quite frankly I got sick of seeing a mustang on every corner! The challenger is a head turner ALL the time (not that we get a car for others, it is for us...but facts are facts). Some will disagree, that they actually see a challenger on every corner. I live between Orlando and Tampa, travel to both cities frequently and a mustang is at almost every light - very few challengers regardless of model.
Anyway, I missed the aggressive look and size of the challenger so much that I resigned myself to the fact I may not have tuning options (NOT TRUE NOW) and decided to sell the Shelby and get back to Challenger! To this day, NO regrets! I am glad I bought the Shelby though so i could enjoy that experience - you only live once so do it if that's your desire. But you will miss the challenger once the newness wears off.
I put a Catback on my automatic challenger....I hate MDS and there is a solution - the B & G tune removes the MDS function, in addition to torque mgt. Even with the 670 hp 2013 model Shelby, I will keep the challenger. I may spend the extra cash for the upcoming factory supercharged Challenger, but the Shelby is in my history books for cars. Nobody could convince me not to buy the Shelby. I am glad for the experience, not the money I lost. By the way, the new Shelby is the way to go...why buy yesterday's stuff...the 12's are already dated. There is nothing like factory products; however, I know you can get a deal on a 2012. By the way, get the SVTPP Shelby if you go for it? Big difference....
Ironside 06-19-2012, 10:07 AM Why get a Shelby over a 392 besides stock performance?
Was wondering the same thing.
Why would you jump ship for a 2012 Shelby when the performance difference compared to a 392 is a marginal improvement at best? What is the gap in 1/4 mile times, a few 10ths?
If we were talking about the 2013 GT500 then fine, but the 392 is superior to the 2012 Shelby in every measurable sense minus that little dip in power (roomier, more comfortable ride, big trunk, nicer looking by far, less expensive, more gadgets tech-wise, has a sunroof, no live rear axle, list goes on)
Makes even less sense since we're on the eve of 6.2L SC HEMI's... Just something to think about.
moparnoob 06-19-2012, 10:32 AM I have a different take. @23 yrs old- I'd sell the Challenger, buy a beater and put the money you're saving each month into a two flat. Live in half, rent the other. Work as hard as you can and live like a pauper for a few years, save all you can and in a few years either buy another or a 4 flat. Live well under your means and when you do decide to settle down make sure the gal doesn't want to live like a Kardashian. Doing so will allow you the ability to afford a multitude of toys.

johnnyy 06-19-2012, 12:28 PM if your gonna do it , go for the 2013 shelby.
Toxic11 06-19-2012, 02:41 PM I almost bought a Lamborghini Aventador. Then I realized the payments would be five times more than my Mortgage :D

first of all, there is a pretty decent gap in performance challenger vs gt500, secondly i can do pulley swap and tune and add another 125 to 150hp/tq so i spend 600 bucks extra and now im about 200 hp/tq higher than the callenger. secondly, as srt8tech stated originally, there really isnt any difference in the way the ride feels regardless of road noise. and last, if you wanna talk about axles... SVTPP has much better axles than challenger plus lighter rims and lighter car in general... carol shelby just died so im almost possitive these cars will become nothing less than a collector car and the engines are fully forged and hand built. as far as the challenger goes, it almost brings me to tears to have to see it go because i do love it so much, the look, the feel, and ive always been a mopar fan. that being said I could always go back to the challenger when dodge stops being such a Bi**h and makes a car for a man rather than a little boy.(not calling anyone here a little boy, just stating that they lock us out of PCM and lack performance compared to competitors)
GoFastChallenger 06-19-2012, 03:43 PM on a side note, I do save my pennys which is how I do live my lifestyle but that being said... i do not want to live outside my means or else the 2013 shelby would be in my sights.
as far as the deal goes, We did strike a deal today, I went to the bank and got a private loan for 38,000. ford will be giving me 39,000 for my car and Selling me the SVTPP for 49,000 out the door. if anyone is interested in the numbers.

So the Challenger is made for little boys instead of big men like you eh?
Somebody is awfully defensive about their new purchase... Don't let the door hit you on the way to the Rustang forums.

Yep, loved the pic with a GT500 on the hoist above a 392, a perfect combo.
For not a lot of mod money, the GT500 can be a rocketship at the track while the Challenger is always going to be the better driver.
Congrats on the GT500, sure that will be a fun car.
rixkix 06-20-2012, 04:43 AM I'd like to have an '08-9 Shelby convertible to go with my Challenger. Wife wants a drop top and I want to keep the SRT8. Dodge wont make a ragtop version so the Shelby is the way to go for me. I prefer the body style of the '05-'09 better than today's.
blazeone 06-20-2012, 05:15 AM The the OP, get what you want they are both great cars. I sold my '70 Mach 1 a few months ago. It was a project car for me and I restored to it show room condition. A great car for car shows but that's not me I don't like the old driving dynamics. I enjoy modern handling and power.

SRT8Tech 06-20-2012, 05:18 AM That white one looks nice. :) Mine is white with stripe delete. As far as "performance is only .2 differance between the 392 and 2012 GT500"................Thats on stock tires. Put slicks on both and the 2012 GT500 will run mid 11's all day with 120+ trap speeds. The 392 will still run 12's @ 110-114. Also as far as road noise.......I have to say the 392 was no quiet bitch either. LOL. Im not even going to get into the fit and finish between the 2.
Im not bashing on the Challenger. Both are kick as cars but if you want performance, the GT500 is the way to go.
If you want a pretty fast car with room and looks, the Challenger is the way to go. But I have to say the GT500 looks damn good too. I still have only seen ONE Shelby in the past few months where im at. Ive seen more 392 Challengers.............
As far as this tuning deal. B&G can tune the Dodge stuff but until I can sit in my driveway or goto my tuner and have MY car tuned, there is NO tuning solution at least for me.
SRT8Tech 06-20-2012, 05:37 AM on a side note, I do save my pennys which is how I do live my lifestyle but that being said... i do not want to live outside my means or else the 2013 shelby would be in my sights.

I was going to get a 2013 Shelby and decided not to because im not giving a dealer more than what the car is worth. No dealer wanted to sell for MSRP. Closest I got was 3k over MSRP. Still no deal on that crap. In the end, the 2012 was the way to go. I would have done something to either the 2012 or 13 to take away part of the warranty anyway so made no differance. In the end, I can make the 2012 faster than the 13 for more cheap than getting the 13. Also there are some other things I like about the 2012 over the 2013 too.
You pretty much got the exact deal I got. Niiiice. :) Now, go get some drag radials because youre gonna need em. LOL
Anyway, in the end, the GT500 isnt for everyone but it damn sure was for me...........................

To the OP: the pic you displayed (showroom floor) is perfect. That is the combo I had with the red stripped seats as well, SVTPP. Go for it. You are only 23 and live only once. Don't be surprised if you come back AFTER a supercharged version is released from Dodge/SRT. More importantly, don't be ashamed to tell us you came back....LOL...I had both sitting in my garage for several months (2012 Shelby, 2012 SRT Challenger) until I sold the Shelby. Advice that you can take or leave. Once you put a Tune and Pulley on the Shelby SVTPP, watch out! That car will spin the tires off while going 50 mph...of course while you are simultaneously pushing your right foot towards the floor! Fun? Hell yes! Will it stay straight? NO! Be careful!!!
To Tech: you helped me make some decisions when I was on the fence and I appreciate your input. That was part of the reason I got to enjoy the experience of owning a Shelby. I had a blast! Keeping both just didn't make sense to me. For those reading my post, I am not rich like that. I spend my money to have fun but I don't have anyone else to be concerned about, so there is no arrogance here! Sooooo, I think you will be back once SRT gives us an opportunity to get a supercharged FACTORY option. I know you are having fun like I did, but you have to admit you miss many aspects of that challenger....lol. Of course I'm guessing. Almost forgot your comment on fit and finish....both of my challengers were tight. I would not have accepted delivery if they weren't. I can't say the same for my Shelby. The passenger side door gap (after the fender) was wider than the driver's side. Everything else was tight...shutting a challenger door versus shutting the Shelby door was like a Cadillac versus a vega....just kidding!
I believe a couple of your comments were in response to my original post so I have to respond..lol. Inside road noise in the Shelby is ridiculous. I've had two SRT Challengers and it was like night and day. The only other thing I will stand behind is the fact there are mustangs on every corner, and quite frankly, because of the changes Ford made, it is very difficult for the common folk to differentiate between a six banger mustang and a Shelby...only muscle car freaks like all of us on the forum can pick them out of the pack. The same can be said for Challenger...Dodge gave the six bangers dual exhaust, making it look more and more like the SRT. BUT, in the big cities of Orlando and Tampa, you truly can't stop at a traffic light without seeing a mustang....not many challengers, regardless of model around central Florida. OK, enough hating...lol
You mentioned earlier about the Shelby being more of a pony/sports car versus the challenger being a muscle car. I agree fully. But you would think a muscle car would be UNLOCKED! In any event, I hope the latest info on the 6.2 supercharged version is accurate. I will be first in line IF the numbers are at least 570/570! Anything less probably wont be worth the extra money they will want! Have fun with that bad boy...
GoFastChallenger 06-20-2012, 06:33 PM I dont want to quote all of you guys but to most of you, I appreciate the support and thank you for helping me make my decision. To tech... you have inspired me most of the way through my deal (price, challenger vs gt500, and the list goes on) I definitly will consider going back to SRT once they get their sh*t straight and I will MOST definitely miss my challenger. I have owned SRTs since 06 and now I am abandoning the brand. I will also be staying on this forum as a lot of the former challenger guys that switch have just to stay tuned in on whats new with the SRTs plus i feel like u guys are my "car family" everyone here (especially TOXIC, LITOS, and SRT8tech) have helped me in one way or another. So again, i Appreciate all the imput, it has really made it easier for me to give up my challenger which i so dearly love.

SRT8Tech 06-20-2012, 07:07 PM LOVE the stripe delete!!!!!
GoFastChallenger 06-20-2012, 07:38 PM HAHA i know right??? way better looking IMO.. plus silver looks great with the dark accents plus i dont have stripes inside my car either which im glad about cuz i thought it looked a little funny with the stripes inside
rghoskins 06-20-2012, 07:49 PM A friend of mine's shop just tuned a 13 GT500, bone stock other than the tune, and it put down 673 to the rear tires. But ultimately, I don't think the markets for these two cross as much as most folks think they do. I think most people that buy the SVT are dead set on that car and most folks that are buying 392's are intentionally buying the badest ass of Challengers. Personally I'd take a stripe delete black 392 over a GT500 that Mr Shelby had literally nothing to do with that may go a little faster than low 12's.

When I was looking to order a 2013 my choice was gonna be silver with stripe delete....:)
I didnt think I would like the white but when I saw the car I was like Awwwwwww yeahhhh. White with stripe delete in my driveway now. The Recaro seats are nice and are comfortable but they are still no SRT seat. LOL. The SRT seats are just bad ass........Recaros are close behind the SRT seats though.

Well, Shelby might not have designed the car but he definately had to sign off on the car before it hit the streets. He also WAS involved in development of the car.
And yeah, just a little faster than low 12's????.......................:bash:

That car looks great. IMO the 2013 mustangs are the best looking of them all. I like the LED stripes on the ends of the headlights. Question, does the air flow through grill and then up through the vent on the hood?

Sorta......it does that and also the heat from under the hood is pulled out when driving. While stopped it lets the heat out from the radiator and heat exchanger.

I like that design. Seems very functional. I think the ZL1 hood is similar.

GoFastChallenger 06-22-2012, 07:32 AM Yeah, this car is great, phenomenal handling, very smooth shifts, i havent really got in it yet cuz im trying to break it in (very hard to resist mashing the gas) I like the interior lighting arrangement. the car sounds VERY throaty I am headed over to my local muffler shop to have the reso delete untill i purchase a full exhaust. my first mods will be SCT tune and 2.6" pulley and possibly a new intake ( steeda perhaps) but im not sure on the brand yet but from what i understand the steeda is the only one making any claims of hp/tq gains.
Litos 06-22-2012, 07:49 AM Must be a west coast thing. LOL. Its the opposite where im at.
probably a west coast thing - in Houston, where there are 6 million people, i see more SRT8 Challengers than GT500's.......
SRT8Tech 06-22-2012, 07:50 AM Have you gone through the whole menu setup yet? Like the shift light and stuff? There is alot of cool stuff in there. Gotta love the 3 different color lighting in the car that you can setup. The 3 mode steering is cool too.........
About the intake.....you wont see much gains from any of the aftermarket intakes. The stock intake is killer. Only thing I did (intake wise) was an Airaid direct fit filter and the FRPP intake baffle/reso delete. If you do end up getting a different intake, JLT makes some damn good stuff.
GoFastChallenger 06-22-2012, 07:59 AM yeah thats what i have been reading, but as far as claims on their website most of them say there is no real gains because the factory intake is great but steeda makes 34.5 hp gains... im not quite sure it would be that much but maybe some gains??? if not whatever im not complaining that my car comes with a sick intake from the factory.
No i havent seen all of that stuff but i did go threw the ambient lighting and gauge lighting but i couldnt figure out how to change the speedometer a different color from the RPM gauge. as far as shift light goes i havent seen that on the display yet. still need some time to play around with it. I did notice the 3 mode steering though I didnt change it yet (still on standard)
GoFastChallenger 06-22-2012, 08:00 AM and as far as seeing these on the road, I have seen maybe a handful but definitely not many and I see about 3 srt8 challengers a day.
MizzouRT 06-22-2012, 08:39 AM The the OP, get what you want they are both great cars. I sold my '70 Mach 1 a few months ago. It was a project car for me and I restored to it show room condition. A great car for car shows but that's not me I don't like the old driving dynamics. I enjoy modern handling and power.
I agree, showroom stock on the old cars is fine if you want to show them, but disappointing if you want to drive them. I prefer the old cars with updated suspension & brakes and performance goodies under the hood.
I think you have the perfect combination with the 392 as the driver / beater and the GT500 as the performance toy.
To the OP, congrats on your GT500. Strong performance stock and easy to mod / no tuning issues if you want to make it into a rocketship at the track.
autobot 06-22-2012, 08:40 AM and as far as seeing these on the road, I have seen maybe a handful but definitely not many and I see about 3 srt8 challengers a day.
Ya lets be serious here though. The average person these days will pick a better looking car overall over a little better performance wise car(besides the average car forum user). So everyone needs to finally throw out that "i see more of this car" thing. I love the gt500 looks but just can't seem to get rid of my baby. I'm still hopeful, but I am givng them til next summer to pony up. Not to mention i'am only 22 and need the backseat room for my 3 other roommates. Especially when im 6'4'' and they can already barely fit behind me. :)
GoFastChallenger 06-22-2012, 09:08 AM ^^^^ one tall mofoe... dont get a gt500 there is no room for u lol... I definitely think the challenger has the looks for sure. just wish they had a gt500 under the hood:yikes:
SRT8Tech 06-23-2012, 06:21 AM I forgot to add......here is a pic my cars intake setup I was talking about. The FRPP resonator delete and Airaid direct fit filter. No tuning needed and works just as good as any CAI intake out there for the 2010-2012 cars. If you are not going huge on the HP than this setup is just fine.
GoFastChallenger 06-23-2012, 02:20 PM yeah thats a nice setup there... is that an oil catch can i see on the left and on the right attached to ur intake??
SRT8Tech 06-23-2012, 03:51 PM yeah thats a nice setup there... is that an oil catch can i see on the left and on the right attached to ur intake??
Yep, those are the JLT catch cans. They use the OEM Ford connectors on them to fit perfect. Got em from Lethal Performance.
Toxic11 06-23-2012, 06:29 PM Wow the battery is under the hood... Haven't seen one there in years :)
GoFastChallenger 06-23-2012, 06:35 PM why do you need one connected to the intake?
SRT8Tech 06-23-2012, 06:52 PM why do you need one connected to the intake?
Its not really needed but it does catch the little bit of oil that goes through that tube. Most of the oil that gets into the intake is on the PCV side on the passenger side.
KS-SRT6spd 06-23-2012, 08:03 PM Congrats on the car. Shelby 500 is a sweet ride. Not my thing, but impressive non the less. Ford did not **** around and hold anything back performance wise. I hope all the Mopar hype lately pans out with the 6.2 s/c.

GoFastChallenger 06-23-2012, 10:08 PM ^^^lol the moderators have baby ears... yes I really like it a lot its just so powerful and I can just keep doing more its amazing... my only real complaint is that the large speaker in the door sticks out so every time i get in and out of the car my shoes kick it if im not careful... hey SRT8tech, are those ur factory intercooler reservoirs? or do u have the 3x?

Its the stock radiator reservoir and the 3x Roush heat exchanger reservoir on it.
Mopar_440_Challenger 06-30-2012, 12:29 PM Congrats on your new purchase!!! I too did the same thing as you (except I traded an '09 R/T for my '11 SVTPP) and I have had ZERO regrets!! I loved the Mopar, but these Shelby's are nasty. So far I've done the 2.6" pulley, tune, JLT CAI, catch can, Airaid filter, MGW shifter, O/R x-pipe, and mufflers. Once I get back the the states next month, she's getting LT's, a Whipple 2.9, cams, and LCA's!! Heed the advice and def. look into tires - a good DR will blow your mind in how well it will hook up!!! Love the stripe delete look too, so good call - obviously we all think alike on that one hahaha

BlueMeanie 06-30-2012, 02:34 PM I almost bought a Lamborghini Aventador. Then I realized the payments would be five times more than my Mortgage :D
I (didn't) almost bought a Ferrari because the salesmen wouldn't engage in the haggling process,
Don't understand, maybe because I had coveralls on with a Catipillar cap and eating a burger,
:smoker:
SRT8Tech 06-30-2012, 02:54 PM I just got back from a 2500 mile road trip with mine and had zero issues. Im 6'3 230 pounds and had no comfort issues at all either.
GoFastChallenger 06-30-2012, 03:44 PM ^^^^^ thats good to hear, I was sure nothing would happen but Im leaving on aug 2 for my 3000 mile trip so it makes me feel even better! just outta curiosity, where did u go?

Thanks man, Yeah I am very glad I switched over, this is basically what i have been looking for... something with lots of power and room to make more!!! u have pretty much the setup I ultimately want but for now im going to try to keep it mildly modded for about a year then add all the rest(for now ill be adding 2.6" pulley, tune, borla ATAK, and filter with resonator delete.)

Went to Ocean City MD then to my brothers house in Arlington VA. We sold our house in Ocean City in 2005 and havent been back since. Went back for the hell of it to see if anything has changed there.......Still the same. :)
HellRaiser 07-01-2012, 03:50 AM If you like the ford, get it.
I am done with the cramped interiors and harse ride cars.
The Challengers style is my style. I don't care if is a few 10ths off the 1/4 mile stock.

I do like it... i also already bought it lol... the interior i think looks just as nice as the challenger with all the alcrontra on the shifter steering wheel, E-brake, seat inserts and the dash is nice with the aluminum plus i like the lights in the interior... as far as crampedness, I dont feel very cramped in the car and as srt8tech said hes 6'3 and fit very comfortably so im assuming u were sitting in the back seat of one... and running 11.16 stock with slicks is not a "few" 10ths especially when a pulley and tune will drop that number. dont get me wrong i love the challenger and if dodge would make their cars as fast and unlocked then I would have never switched and I would even go back now that i have switched. but there are only 4500 of these cars in 2012 and 383 of mine in my color so There are way more challengers driving around and I get a lot more looks then i did before because of the sound of this beast and the looks.

Times 100. ...Have had 6 Mustangs, enjoyed them when I was younger. Rented a GT in California, couldn't stand the harsh ride and cramped interior. I get SOO many compliments on my Header Orange 392, it's almost annoying.
Lol. Will never trade this car. Couldn't care less if a Mustang is a half second, ( or more ), quicker in the Quarter.
GoFastChallenger 07-01-2012, 08:43 AM well i respect ur guys decision so to that i say to each his own dude, u have preference and I have mine.

GoFastChallenger 07-01-2012, 08:31 PM already did... GoFastCobra:thumbsup:
Thingfish 07-01-2012, 09:59 PM Never would have thought I'd enjoy reading a GT500 thread here as much as I have this one. Lots of great car enthusiasm regardless of the brand. Congrats on your purchase and those numbers really blow me away. I'd sure like to take one down the track. My 392 keeps me smiling just the same. If I could have both I would...I think most would...

GoFastChallenger 07-03-2012, 10:36 AM thanks to thingfish and smitman, I am enjoying it very much and I would love to have you take a ride down the track so you could share my excitement... I still post here because the people on this forum I feel are more genuine and more helpful, I even got more help from people on this forum than i have from fordgt500.com not too mention i have owned 6.1 charger for 6 years and then a 2012 challenger 392 and I feel like I have something to offer the people who need some info so I still like to pop in every day. plus the challeneger is still my favorite looking muscle car... its just so badass
Im going to add a few pics and videos in a few hours

blesseuer 07-03-2012, 12:47 PM I am definitely with others if i could have both i would in a heartbeat...only way i am off a bit is i like the stripes....but either way congrats!!

Porkchop 07-03-2012, 04:37 PM Grats on your GT500. Nice color choice :)
I traded my '10 SRT8 for an '11 GT500 with SVTPP Kona Blue a year ago.
16000 miles later, the interior in the SRT8 held up better. I have a few more winkles in my seats in the GT500, and a few rattles that I have to get fixed by the dealership.
I also had to replace the tires at 8k miles to avoid killing myself in temperatures under 60f. The stock goodyears blow chunks, and replacing the tires with non-stock tires is pretty expensive since you're buying for 19x9.5 and 20x9.5 wheels. The radio is garbage compared to the one in the SRT8, and the ride is no where near as comfortable or quiet. Not having a telescopic steering wheel still pisses me off, considering my freakish upper and lower body ratio.
But all that being considered, I am still happy with my choice. It just has something to do with stepping on the gas and being slapped in the face by God. The GT500 is such a brutally fast, feel everything that happens, watch your life flash in front of your eyes type of ride.
GoFastChallenger 07-03-2012, 04:43 PM ^^^ this is exactly how I feel but so far no problems and hope to keep it that way. I alaso have a honda that I can drive daily its just hard to when i want to just jump into the seat of this beast.

Yep, upgrading to the Recaro seats is the way to go. The base GT500 seats are not as good. The base GT500 radio isnt as good as the base SRT radio. Have to upgrade to the NAV Shaker 1000 in the GT500 and then you got a killer system. The Goodyears suck just like the F1 Goodyears on the SRT's. I got about 10k miles out of my F1's on my 2007 SRT Charger. In the cold they were BAD. The funny thing is, I wish they had a BASE SRT because I dont want all the bells and whistles anyway. Only options I have in my GT500 is the Recaro seats and SVTPP. Thats the way I like it. No electric seats!!!!!!! I LOVE that option!!!!!
Once again, a base no frills SRT would be my choice but they dont make one as of YET.......
Just 2 different types of car. The 392 is the best all around car. You get the decent power and comfort. The GT500 is the in your face fast hold the F on car. The GT500 is still not bad in the comfort and ride but not as good as the Challenger.

x2. Like others, if garage space & $ were not an issue, could easily see me having a 392 driver / cruiser and a GT500 for modding / track time.
GoFast, you can get a GoPro2 for $262 at Amazon (which was the only spot I checked, might be cheaper elsewhere). If you want to do in-car video, the GoPro2 can't be beat. Their stabilizaton software is excellent.

yes... very weak lol
yeah i have been looking into onboard cameras like the gopro but there are other ones out there that are pretty awesome... just trying to save some money which is why i havent jumped on any mods yet... pulley, tune, intake, camera, TVS supercharger, these things add up so im just saving money until im board with the power then im going to pull the trigger on the mods.
Hell Ride 07-04-2012, 10:56 AM You ain't kidding, I just sold the car in my sig and picked up a 2011 6 speed. I have mods in droves that I have to save up for. One thing would be the custom interior I want. Definitely going to have to save up for that, wheels, tires, and then the go fast goodies. Does it ever end?
GoFastChallenger 07-04-2012, 11:46 AM yeah but at least it gives you time to get bored first then once u have the money its like buying a brand new car! when u say u bought a 2011 6spd, you mean a challenger right? is it RT or SRT? how you like it so far?
Hell Ride 07-05-2012, 10:05 AM 2012 challenger RT 6 speed. Yep. You and I are the same age bro, and it feels good to play this game while we are young enough to enjoy it.

I am in the same boat. I am pretty sure i will enjoy it even more when i'm older but it's nice to be able to drive the car i have wanted at such a young age.
Not to mention the sound woman make when i start her up.
GoFastChallenger 07-05-2012, 02:37 PM HAHA yeah most people arent fortunate enough to enjoy the cars we get to play with period and even more so at our age. and yes the girls LOVE these cars( they love the challenger even more than my car cuz they dont know what the hell a shelby is... they just see mustang lol)
Toxic11 07-05-2012, 03:00 PM Been enjoying cars since I started driving.. No sense in stopping now... Car Broke! :)
It could be worse.. you could have been the guy to get the extra rare SHEBLY that was posted on here not too long ago.. that would really keep em guessing! :)

Yeah girls love some Mopars. I was at a meet once and I was the only challenger there (March 2009). A group of 2 girls and a guy came over and the girls start foaming at the mouth over the car. They are asking me about it and other questions like music I like, places I drive to, things I like to do. It was pretty funny actually. Eventually I opened the car and the girls were sitting in it, I walk over to the guy they were with and said "sorry dude, Im not trying to steal them or anything" and he replied "it's cool man, it's just that one's my girlfriend and the other is my sister so I'm getting pulled into two emotional directions here" and I said, "yeah, I have that problem too but it's usually when they ask to go for a ride because this car is the underwear magician"
We laughed and talked then they left but getting those girl's attention was fun. This car's motor DOES make girls emit funny noises.
GoFastChallenger 07-05-2012, 05:22 PM lol yeah so far a girl has said her nipples got hard in my new car lol just check the video!!
Toxic11 07-05-2012, 06:26 PM I saw that.... I laughed out loud.. We need photos of said girls shirt as proof, have her wear a T and take her for another ride :) lol
judgeman6970 07-05-2012, 06:26 PM they're both awesome cars(thats why I own both).....but since they are "musclecars", I think I prefer the "cramped, harsh-riding" 3,800 lb, 550hp monster with the cool "whine":burnout:
