: 11-12 new Mopar intake install
TheBigB 06-20-2012, 01:27 PM SO I just finished installing the mopar cold air intake on my 2012 RT. This intake seems to be different in design from anything pre 2011. Has anyone else done this install? I felt like the sensor wire was so tight after reinstalling. It has very little play. Also the mopar logo kind of gets hidden a bit too. I do think the box design is better, especially for my hood routing the air.

SacTownMan 06-20-2012, 06:53 PM Same here. My wire is really tight. My kit didn't have any instructions in the box so it was a harder install than it needed to be.
Did you make sure to pull the fuse or disconnect the battery so the computer could adjust for the new air flow?
TheBigB 06-20-2012, 08:08 PM Hey,
yea I did disconnect the negative terminal. Is it just me or did your car sound quieter after in the install. lol. I'm not sure if maybe its breaking in bc it hit 750 miles or what I thought the exhaust/engine was not as much of a growl. As far as the sensor, i'm slightly nervous about it breaking but ill cross that bridge if it happens. I did get some extra insulation( like whats already on there) to cover the exposed wires because it has to stretch so much.
SacTownMan 06-20-2012, 10:22 PM Looking at pictures of the two installs your Mopar decal is in the wrong place. I've never seen one that low. Look where mine is. You should make them replace it.
I ordered mine from Steve White motors and the tube had a small dent in it. I didn't want to put the old one back on once I got started. I just asked them to send a replacement tube when I placed my next order and they were happy to do so. They are sending a return label with my new stuff. There folks are first rate and a site sponsor.
For the price you paid for the Mopar factory part you deserve to be satisified. I think you got a funky part.
TheBigB 06-21-2012, 06:52 AM good point on the old brace, ill take that off, ugly anyway. I think some were different than others. Check out this vid on youtube. His logo is kind of like mine: 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic MOPAR Cold Air Intake - YouTube (http://youtu.be/KnnnqNnMQKo)

Hey- what did you put over the bolt hole? I took that piece out and now there is just a hole there? I put electrical tape over it for now.
SacTownMan 06-21-2012, 09:28 PM The nut holding the bracket is a lock nut (The kind where the nut is compressed in the middle). When you try to take it off bracket the whole stud comes out of the whole. I took two wrenches and removed the nut from the stud, This took a lot of work as the nut is stuck on there real good. I then screwed the stud back into the whole cause it looks like it needs to be there. It was going through some kind of housing so I put it back and you should too. It should take less than five minutes
TheBigB 06-21-2012, 09:49 PM hmmm... I think i stripped it while trying to do the same. I guess i could go get a replacement bolt. What size is that thing?
SacTownMan 06-22-2012, 08:30 AM Ouch!!
I will take it out and let you know. You may just want to have the dealer order it for you. You need that stud if you plan to add a catch can.
TheBigB 06-26-2012, 03:12 PM I checked with Dodge, they said i didn't need it. It is only used for accessories.
Jobbob 06-26-2012, 03:23 PM I had the same problem on my install. I just carefully trimmed the wrap tape back from where the two bundles come together and it gave enough slack to make the connection.
My only DOH! was closing the trunk with the battery disconnected. I still have a self-inflicted mark on my forehead. Battery charger to the rescue!
Cyberhome 41 06-26-2012, 07:19 PM I had the same situation when I connected the IAC sensor, but I was able to work with the plug and got it in the position I wanted. I also, closed the trunk AFTER disconnecting the battery. I was STRESSED out for a moment, but everything worked out.
UltimateChallenger 06-27-2012, 05:41 PM Here's mine. I was also disappointed at the new mopar logo location and I have the same tight IAT sensor, but it's been fine for approx. 5,000 miles. No worries!

toxic13 06-27-2012, 07:11 PM Maybe i can help.My mopar logo was the opposite of yours. Mine was rolled more towards the engine. So much so that you couldn't see the "M" unless you stood right over it. I called mopars tech line and they told me that they had no parts, just the whole kit but, they did tell me that AEM makes the kit for them. I called AEM and spoke with Peter in tech support and long story short he sent me a new decal and as you can see the results turned out great. The number to AEM is (800 (http://www.aemintakes.com/contact.htm#)) 992-3000 (ask for peter in tech support) the part number for the decal is AEM-10-922M. The "M" and mopar decal come off real easy and if your careful you get a real nifty tool box decal.(sorry for the crappy pics, camera phone) Hope this helps everyone.
TheBigB 06-28-2012, 04:51 PM I got everything straightened out now. Had to get a different coolant reservoir and uninstall the other and reinstall the new but I love it! I also have the hood air kit installed too.

TITANIUM-SE 07-04-2012, 06:30 PM Would this part number P5155730 from Mopar be the same decal on a CAI?
Texasrt 07-17-2012, 08:20 AM Nice! I'll be installing mine this weekend. I too am disappointing with the Mopar Logo. Looks like Peter will be getting a call from me! lol Thanks Toxic13 for the info!
