Ordered last month a new stainless Magnaflow competition series 16885 from the US and they shipped the exhaust overseas to my home in the Netherlands.. Got the exhaust at home last week and installed the magnaflow on my Challenger SRT-8 today.. It was a cool job and easy to install. The new sound of the 6.1 Hemi is bad@ss and i really love it.

That system sounds and looks great. I notice it has the "H" pipe and not the "X" pipe like the magnaflow 16885 advertises. Is this something you did, or did the kit come like this?

It has the X-pipe.

My mistake.....sorry. It looked like an "H" in your first pic. I just ordered this system for my Challenger. After listening to your clip and some others, and seeing these pics, my system can't get here fast enough! I can't wait to install it. Thanks for the informative thread.

excellent. I've got the competition series on my 5.7, after about 1500 miles, and especially in cooler air, it really sound great.

very nice.. i like the sounds..

so i am gonna ask.. do you have much of the dreaded DRONES? and where did you purchase the system from? any idea how much it cost?

thanks

I haven't problems with drones but i must tell that the Challenger is not my daily car. I will use the Challenger only for fun so i like to hear the Hemi V8 because the stock exhaust sucks. The only thing what i maybe don't like is that the exhaust is a bit to loud when i drive ą 60mph and push the pedal to the floor so the auto trans shift back and the rpm's goes up-up-up.. At high rpmīs itīs a little bit to loud i think so but with normal driving i love the V8 rumble very much.. I think the sound is a personal taste but there isn't a better sound as a kick@ss V8 :banger: :SM127:

I'm planning on buying the Magnaflow 16686 Competition Series, which is the exact same system except that it reuses the stock Dodge tips. I haven't heard it in person yet, only on YouTube clips. Is it really loud in normal city driving, or is it only when you open it up that it becomes a beast?

nice set up there, congrats! I just came back from Amsterdam and I have to say, for a car-unfriendly place it sure is LOUD with engine noises! so many motorbikes are running around with really loud or unmuffled exhaust. It was great actually, I was surprised that ppl didn't mind all the constant revving. Would have made my day to see a killer black evil Chally running over a line of obnoxious cyclers LOL.

$900 shipped to your door is a great price! I payed $1250 but the overseas shipping to my home in the Netherlands was expensive.. Payed also tax and import duties in Holland so it was not cheap to get the Magnaflow at home for my Challenger. But it was worth the money :rocker:

The sound is great with normal city driving. It's a bit to loud when you open it up @ high rpms but the sound is a personal taste.. I love it with normal driving. The 16686 looks the same and with the stock tips is great as well. Magnaflow has also the 16510 for the Challenger SRT8 and this exhaust system has 2 extra mufflers and you can also put the stock tips on it

Cool that you stayed in Amsterdam.. This weekend (sunday july 08) is a great american car show very close to Amsterdam www.kingcruise.nl (http://www.kingcruise.nl) in Muiden. I think it was cool for you to visit this car show in Holland. Maybe next time ;-) It's every second sunday of the month from April until September. I'm going with my Challenger SRT-8 and a friend of me from Rotterdam with his Challenger SRT-8 as well this sunday.

So I installed my Magnaflow 16885 kit on my 2012 this past weekend. This kit was originally made for 08-10 cars, but they advertise it to fit the 11 and 12 as well. Well it doesn't.....not without modifications that is. Come to find out, the rear end is different on the 2012. It is wider than the 08-10 which makes the driver side muffler press hard against the differential housing, which in turn puts the rear exits out of place.....to the left. So at this point it was either ship it back, or make it fit, and with all of the good things I had heard about this system, I decided to tweak it to fit. First I heated up the x-pipe just in front of the muffler and carefully bent it away from the differential housing with a port-a-power. It actually worked slick. This put my driver side tail pipe off, so to correct that, I heated that up and moved it back in to place where it should be. Then I had an issue with the passenger side tailpipe. The tip was contacting the trunk belly on the corner....minimal, but enough to create problems. This was corrected by heating and bending the Magnaflow hangers in to a better position. After all of this was completed, there is no contact anywhere, no vibration, and positioned nicely. This type of thing shouldn't have to be done to a new system that claims to fit your vehicle, but I have to say, this system sounds awesome! It was worth the extra work, however, the advertisers for this product should correct this problem. Has anyone else ran in to this issue on their 2011 or 2012 with this system?

I had the 16886 installed on my 2011 392 and it fit perfect. No modification required. The tech said it was a piece of cake and couldn't have been easier. Only difference is that this system uses the OEM tips.

Installed the same system with only 50km on my srt. It's loud when you get on the gas, which is what I wanted. Loud at cruising speed too, but it's not my daily driver so when it's out of the garage the windows are down so I can hear the rumble!

I am very surprised to hear that. Mine wasn't even close. I have heard both good and bad when it comes to the fit up on this system. I'm glad you had no issues with yours.

Does anyone know if the 2011 and 2012 have the same differential housings?

I installed mine at 200miles, I had a slight issue with the drivers side being close to the diff but just a little muscle and a few tweaks it went in fine. I got mine with the quad tips, I'm starting to wonder if maybe they make it a little more quiet. I heard a clip of one that reused the factory tips and sounded like a beast, but I feel like mine just purrs. It might be the hearing loss or that I'm use to the borla s I had on my jeep. Either way I'm wanting something that is even louder and deeper.

Just wondering is that the complete system with resonators deleted? I'm asking because I took mine to a custom shop and he installed the two mufflers and custom built the remaining exhaust while reinstalled my stock tips and my car sound perfect! He also deleted my resonators! When you stomp on it the sound note is like a well tuned machine! When I'm cursing there is no drone. I'm ordering my cold air intake tomorrow so I imagine the sound will become even deeper!!! Hopefully I don't get drone!

Yeah it's the complete system from cats back. From the cats it flows back into a X pipe then Into the mufflers then out the quad tips. It's a nice sound but it's just not deep enough for me. No drone at all with it but every now and then it rattles the rear cover in the back window.

Thanks, these are awesome pics and the exhaust sounds great!!

I will be installing my Magnaflow 16885 system on my 2011 SRT Challenger this weekend. instructions say to unplug the battery before installing fo it can reset itself. Is this necessary? I really don't want to do this, not sure how the electronics & Viper alarm will respond to loss of power.

Thanks!

You can just pull the fuse for the adaptive learning system. I think it's fuse #2 under the hood.

Is this any easy install to do right in the garage without a lift and just a ramp/stands? I feel that it would get crowded up front near the cats.

I put thi exhaust on my 09 six speed by myself. Jack the back end leave the front tires on the ground. Have a rubber mallet handy. Take the tips off first then the back half. One side of the factory pipe is long other is short. The hardesf part is the rubber hangers in the middle of the car. Use lots of wd40 or silicone spray. Have it on there for a few minutes. Have a deep well 15m socket use a air impact bust all the boltsloose.

Once you get it off start at the front on the new exhaust and work toward the back. Pound the x pipe in with a mallett as far as it will go. The the back pipes. Ext. DONT TIGHTEN ANYTHING DOWN till u are done. The hardest part is getting the tips just where you want them. It took about 2 1/2 hrs to get it on and about an 1 1/2 to get the tips right ( i am anal lol ) it will help to spray the ends of the pipes with wd40 to help the pipes slide on.

Hope that anwsered your questions.
