I MAY be gathering enough courage to attempt the installation. I know many of you have said it's a piece of cake, but then I look at some of the pic's you posted, with the rear of the car disassembled, & I question my abilities:eyemouth:
Anyway, a few of you who did the install on the 2011 & 2012's (where it's necessary to splice the trunk release wire) had mentioned no matter how close you cut the wire, it's still too short. Does anyone know what gauge wire is needed so I have an extra piece on hand just in case??

I just installed the Mopar Sequential Lights on my '12 SXT and had to splice the trunk wires. I was able to cut the wires where I barely had enough to splice without extending.

Right. That's why I asked what gauge wire:scared:

I did the WE kit a couple of weeks ago. I don't know that I'd classify it as a piece of cake, but it's not too bad. Just take your time. I had to read the directions a couple times before I felt like I understood what had to be done. It wasn't quite what I expected.
As for that one wire, I didn't cut it short at all because I want to be able to put back stock if I want. Didn't realize until a little later that it was an issue. I soldered in an extension, no big deal. Not sure the gauge but it's a pretty small wire.

Sorry, I was trying to say it's possible to do it without extra wire if you're careful, I'm thinking the trunk wire was 16 or 18 gauge, but I'll look at what I removed this evening after work if nobody else chimes in.

Getting the old wires out of the wire holder/clip-thing was next to impossible. I actually had to carefully dremel the old clip apart, as the technique of pushing down on the inner clip just mangled the clip... If I ever wanted to put the old harness on now I'd have to buy a new one...

It looks like either 18 or 20 gauge to me. There's no markings and I can't tell a difference between the two without a side by side comparison. Maybe someone else can check.

Install was a piece of cake. My 23 year old son did it without my assistance. No issues with having enough wire at the trunk release.

I did the Web Electronics install on my 2011 and, in my case, I chose to extend the one wire. Pretty sure 18 guage will work fine. Not a huge amount of energy goes thru the wire and definitely not for a very long time. If you happened to use a 20 guage wire for that 1-2" distance I seriously doubt it would make any difference.

Thanks for the info guys!
I still think it's funny how the install is either a "piece of cake"....or "a real b*tch"...depending upon who you ask:worried:

To be honest, the part I hated the most was pulling back the trunk lining and running the wire where it can't be seen (and it wasn't difficult). Replacing the harness was pretty straight forward. I did this by myself, but it would be helpful to have someone lend a hand for when you need to remove and reinstall the middle tail light. Luke from Steve White Motors just posted the instructions up on his thread if you want to read through them first. It's worth taking your time and running the wires like it shows. Wires showing is something that really bothers me and now you can't tell that they are there.

I just got done installing the WebElectric kit and it was pretty straight forward and easy. Adding tha harnesses went well and there's plenty of room for proper routing. The hardest part for me was popping the push pins for the liners. After the hook-up, all worked well and it does add a nice touch to the lighting scheme. If I had to do it again, a pocket full of push pins and a pair of side cutters would be the plan....

Cheers,

I installed the WE kit on my 11' and I chose to use extra wire and solder all the connections to ensure nothing came a part. Me and a friend did the install, took about an hour all in. Not easy but not too complicated either.

takes about an hour....easy install. Come on down to Florida and I'll do it for free. JK ...take your time and get a friend to help.

I installed the web electrics on my 2009 SRT8 several months ago and it really wasn't that bad. Definitely just take your time and it won't be as frustrating. I just counted on a little complication, so when I ran into something I was surprised. I'm ok the road right now, but there was a thread on here somewhere that had step by step directions with pictures that I used that were much better than the directions it comes with. Maybe search for it or if anyone knows post the link.

Wouldn't recommend solder, you need a strong mechanical connection that may need to be flexible.

For me, the only difficult part was removing the center light assembly because it was stuck in place. I eventually figured out an easy way to remove it...

After you take off all the fasteners, reinstall the wing nuts a few turns, and then rap on the wing nuts with a wooden mallet until the center section pops loose. No tugging or assistants needed.
