Anyone know if the DODGE lettering can be removed from the reverse light? I was wondering if heating it up with a blowdryer and using fishing line would do it.

Yeah, they're just attached with 3M tape.
Clean up with Goo Gone or WD40.
I'll take 'em if you don't want 'em.

Thanks for the info. If I decide not to keep the letters after I take them off, I'll let you know.

Wonder if the script 'Challenger' from the Challenger Classic's would fit there? Think it would look good.

I would think that some waxed dental floss would do the trick.

Just sayin. :dunno:

not really as the letters are recessed and molded into the plastic

I just looked at my 2012. It seems the letters can be easily removed with a little heat and fishing string. However, it looks like the clear face of the lens has a recess in it that each letter sets into. When the chrome letters are removed, the word "DODGE" would be seen in the lens face.

Love the look of our thick girl backing her way out of the garage. I am one proud DODGE papa.

..Be well. That is all.

Good question. I was looking to remove them so I could paint them black and put them back on.

Fishing line removes them easily BUT each letter has one or two locator pins on the TAILLIGHT side that go in holes on the letters so start at one end and when it stops line stops moving under the letter, restart at other end by the time you hit the second pin it will pop off. I've done two cars now, no problems and used Autozone letters over the lens, but have seen others just cover the letter indents with a piece of aluminum 3M taped on.

I think I just used a credit card and it worked fine.

The "DODGE" comes off very easily with fishin' string, I just did mine. Spray painted them black, the only pain in the a$$ is getting them back on. I used double sided sticky tape and cut it to fit the letters, took awhile but looks better than the chrome.

Has anyone used that 3M gluey stuff for adhering badging or lettering? I just pulled mine and am wondering which method is best to reapply after painting. Thanks,

Took the letters off mine with a small screwdriver. Used rubbing alcohol to get the left over adhesive off. I would rather the letters be matte black but I'm going naked for now.

BTW: I have always used VHT BBQ grill black paint for lettering, molding etc. Seems to hold up longer than other paints......sticks good too.

Some owners are putting these letters on the front of the hood, like the 1970s ones.

Nice info and good looking car, it is different but I like it.

No need to cut them off, paint them and put them back...
MUCH easier to just tape off and then Plasti-Dip the letters there! I did last week and looks pretty nice. I don't like ANY chrome.

Took me 20 minutes and looks much better than stock.

Wish we could light them up.
