rtr0id 07-07-2012, 07:20 PM you must of been parking out front at my shop. the bastards get me daily.
you cant let it sit on car for days down here. sun bakes it in quick
Redliner 07-07-2012, 07:36 PM Sounds like "berry" poop. Birds that eat berries get that "black-tar" poop like you're talking about. If it has been on there and sun-baked in, it has already reacted with your paint. This needs to be addressed ASAP. Get the poop off of there right now! Then, you might try some "Star-Brite" liquid polish. It WILL actually remove a thin layer of paint and you will have bare-exposed paint with NO clear coat anymore on it so if the Starbrite works and removes that thin layer that got "etched" by the acid of the poop, and you are satisfied, then clay bar the whole car, wax it and then take it to get a new clear-coat on it. Sounds bad but if you are going to salvage that paint job, you better get to it now. I had a similar thing happen to me on my burgundy truck about 10 years ago, and this is what I did to get rid of the "dark spots" in the paint that it created. Good Luck!
laurag146 07-07-2012, 07:50 PM If it's bake in already I think you're out of luck. I left a regular splat of bird poop on my f-150, the sun baked it in and you could always see where the clearcoat/paint was etched from it. :(
Now I make sure to gently wipe poop off right away with the detailer spray if I can't wash it immediately.

Rush-2112 07-07-2012, 08:11 PM That sucks.
You may have already tried this but here's
my suggestion: Park car in shade. Put a rag thats been soaked in water on top of mess and let it sit there for a while. Try to wipe.
Good luck!

I did try this today , dont know how long it was on the car as we were away for a week , got alot of it off , but now theirs a flat layer almost even with the paint . guess i'm buying starbrite tomorrow . thanks for the ideas
steves-se 07-07-2012, 08:23 PM funny thing is that my challenger was parked in front of her charger , not a drop on my car ! Her car got splattered . My sons chrysler 300 was behind her car , also missed the assault .
walnetto 07-07-2012, 09:14 PM Is it under a tree or wires? I'd try some scratch remover with a small electric buffer.
steves-se 07-07-2012, 09:49 PM car was parked in the driveway , no trees or wires were over the car . It just started to rain like hell here , maybe it will help .
but i know what i'm doing sunday . appreciate all suggestions .
Redliner 07-08-2012, 11:08 AM Here's the new bottle. Of course "mine" is probably 25 years old and doesn't look like this but it's the same stuff. REMEMBER.....this DOES take off a microscopic layer of paint. don't press hard. Don't use it all of the time or eventually you will see the primer through the "now transparent" paint. Ha! That's exactly what happened to my Mustang after about 10 years of using this stuff! Takes awhile! Again, best of luck!

Lord Warlock 07-08-2012, 11:43 AM I've used Goo Gone to remove stubborn tree sap from the paint with no adverse affects, i imagine it would take off bird poop as well, may need to rewax the panel afterwards as it usually takes the wax with it.
steves-se 07-08-2012, 05:39 PM Just wanted to update how the great bird cr-p assault ended . Got up early this morning and soaked the numerous piles with with wet , hot , towels .
I let it soak for about an hour , kept re - wetting the towels and wiping the piles . I actually got alot off this way , i removed the rest with a towel and w-d 40 . It took off all the bird droppings without damaging the paint , i was amazed .
I think if this was on the challenger i would have really messed up the paint scrubbing the piles , the charger seems to have a heavier type of paint .
Cleaned both cars inside and out , now , anyone have a good cure for heat stroke ? Should have listened to my wife and got out of the sun .
laurag146 07-08-2012, 05:56 PM That's great news! Drink lots of gatorade or water and have yourself a nap, you deserve it!

Pretty much what i did , the weather has been brutal . Hotter here than Florida was .
=Route 66= 07-13-2012, 07:38 PM I always soak bird droppings in quick detailer due to its lubricity value. The key is to find a protectant for your vehicle.
I use Collinite for my vehicles that aren't in the garage. It works great and lasts a long time. You can browse detailer forums and do a search on it and the consensus is very positive.
Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid wax, heat-resistant wax, car wax (http://www.autogeek.net/collinite-insulator-wax-845.html)
I am sorry about what happened..
Maybe a closed parking is the best option or a cover.
mopar57 09-07-2012, 10:57 PM know im late to the party, but when a bird poops on my car...
I go out on the porch and eat some eggs....this way the birds know what i'm capable of!:D
minnpacker 09-08-2012, 05:48 AM clay bar it.
brewpie 09-08-2012, 05:42 PM Blast with water, two bucket wash, Clay, Polish and re wax. Search you tube for the junkman he has many video on how to detail cars and handle these types of issues.

I carry a spray bottle of distilled water and toilet paper in my trunk.
I give the spot a small spritz and then lay the toilet paper on there and spray it more. The toilet paper helps hold the moisture and break down the poop for easier removal plus it is softer. Then with as little of wiping as possible, I remove the poop with the paper, reapplying as needed.
Lastly hit it with detail spray MF towel.

I had to soak towels in hot water to cover the ungodly mess this flock seagulls ? left on her car - it was the roof , the hood , trunk , windshield unbelievable what these birds did -
Took about 4 - 5 hrs to clean this car .
I told my wife to find a new area to park the car at work - this did not happen at home .
She came home about a week later - car was covered again - this was at the height of the heat wave here in New York . I totally cleaned the car again , crawled into the house and told her if it happens one more time she's on her own .
I think she finally got the hint - i'm usually a nice guy , but i'm sure there was murder in my eyes !
I ' m pretty sure she found a new parking spot .
