This is hands down the best stuff out there. I used Back to Black & loved it until I found this.

....there are a myriad of choices and what folks consider "best" can be a matter of one's own experience/opinion. There are several popular choices out there to choose from that should meet your needs.

These days I am using G/Techniq's C4 on my Challenger. It is a semi permanent coating that helps keep the trim looking OEM for about a year. They claim up to 2 years but my own experience has been 6 months to a year of solid performance depending on the surface and/or condition prior to coating. I also use Optimum Opti-Coat (a permanent coating) on some of my wife's trim on her '08 Forester as well as our DD '06 Scion.

Personally, I prefer to use trim-friendly sealants or and/or some of the newer coatings on trim (whenever possible) vs. dressings/protectants. I finally placed an order recently for some Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant that I've been wanting to try for quite a while. Like Ultima Trim Guard Plus, it is supposed to last several months and gets good reviews on the various detailing-specific forums. WG ETS also (apparently) works well over C4 which finally got me to pull the trigger. ....I figured I could use it to rejuvenate bits that show signs of my C4 wearing off.

I've been using the Aerospace 303 Vinyl protectant - it levels out the color back to the very dark charcoal color (low sheen product) and makes it look like new again.

My friends 2011 SRT's trim looks better than my two week old cars same plastic parts. He said he uses Turtle Wax's Ice wax as it can be used on everything and leaves zero white residue.

What he said.

Lots of great products out there. Try Lucas oil slick mist spray. Works great too.

The two trim dressing / protectant products I use the most these days are:

1. CarPro PERL
2. Ultima Trim & Tire Guard Plus

The things I like most about PERL are that it can be dilluted at different ratios that will provide more or less shine. I use 1:1 on my tires and 1:3 on my exterior trim. It provides very good protection and is easy to apply. I also like the fact that it is water-based and is completely dry to the touch once applied.

Ultima Trim & Tire Guard Plus is a trim sealant very similar to the Wolfgang ETS that Kean mentioned. It provides very good protection and is extremely durable. The only downside for me is that it is a bit pricey, but then again a little goes a long way when applying and you don't need to use it as often due to the durability.

Turtle Wax Ice.
Not so good as a wax for paint, but seems to work well on plastic and vinyl.

So when detailing, when do you use this? After using detail mist or wax or before? If you get these products on the paint what happens? smears, wipes off? What is the process?

I'm very pleased with the TW ICE on my paint - especially the way water runs off it like greased lightning.

+1 on "303"

I've been using it since day one on the front/back trim panels, rocker panels, and wheelwells.

They all look as good as new :)

303 Aerospace, [anything else is a joke], period. Sun-proofs your plastics and makes it look like it rolled just off the lot, protects 30 days and resists dirt, doesn't run with water like all the other cleaners I've used (mequairs, mothers, turtle) it's made to be used on boats and planes and works naturally, insanely well on cars, I use it on all the rubber seals too! Makes them look brand new, I use it on the exterior plastics to moisturize\protect them and same with the dash. 20$ a bottle, but well worth it. Nothing else comes close.

I believe I got Aerospace either at Lowes (or similar place) or a Yacht/boat dealer. Can't remember since it's been so long since I bought it.

Where can you get 303? ….online, through marine supply shops, ACE hardware and a few other retailers. 303 may still offer free samples from their website if you want to try it first. ….I did this years ago. Gallon sizes are also available through online vendors like Autogeek if you end up liking the product and want to save quite a bit of money. 16oz ~ $13, 32oz ~ $20 and 128oz (one gallon) is ~ $60. Much more economical with the larger size

303 is also stocked at West Marine stores (if they're in your area) as well.

Griot's Vinyl & Rubber protectant. Great for tires and dashboards too. OR Aerospace 303.Try the 303 in showers to keep 'em clean after cleaning the walls and doors, but keep it off the floor or you'll be shower surfing with nowhere to go but down!

For those who also own a fiberglass boat, wiping down the boat hull with 303 and just leaving it without wiping it off will make it shine and help prevent oxidation better than wax. I had a 36 foot Regal that looked like new and I never waxed the hull, just took an hour or so every month and sprayed the hull with 303 and kind of slathered it around. It self-levels, looks smeary for a couple of hours, and the gel coat drinks it in. Great stuff.

Griot's also has a wax remover if you get polish or sealer on the black, but the plastic on the Challenger appears smooth and not inclined to suck the wax or sealer in so it's easy to clean and not get that white residue.

Here is another great option:

"Looks Wet, No Mess" from Super Shine Detail Products,LLC.

An incredible tire dressing, perfect for all types plastic interior and exterior trim, even under the hood.

Aerosol spray comes with pinpoint nozzle for accurate placement, the spray itself dries to the touch within a minute!

After applying, you can also wipe with a soft cloth to tone down the gloss, if necessary. Makes trim look new and natural!

I buy it by the case, it's that good!

303 works on my vinyl shutters but streaks when my SRT Challenger gets wet! Going to try Back to Black tomorrow.

Meguiar's Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner. Bought a gallon for less than $50 and the finish is a desirable long-lasting matte.

Adam's Polishes Super VRT. Gives a deep black look, not oily and messy. Protects from the sun and keeps the plastic from fading. Also works great on weatherstirpping and tires.
