I was on my way to work @ 4am one morning. Taking the cloverleaf ramp and down shifted into 2nd to have some fun 'cuz nobody in my way that time of day. Blew past a silver car. Got up to my normal 8 over and relaxed. I heard this grumbling and watched this silver car roar up to me. Then it just punched it. It was loud as s*#@. I realize it's a goat. It slows down again. Now I know those things are beasts. So with it being early I'm not into punching it when the suns not out. Always on the lookout for the 5-0's. Anyways. The goat backs off to just sit side by side again. Cruise like that for 1/2 or less. He feathers the throttle a few times to see if I wanted to go. I really didn't want to but I figured. What the heck. He punches it early as I slap it back down into 2nd and floor it. I only played for a second. I caught him and let off. Not one for tickets. He keeps going. Then I watch as he must have tried to shift and the whole car shook and flashers came on as he pulled over to the median. I couldn't stop laughing all morning. I have never seen anything like it. I could hear the pop with the loud exhaust and the car shook so violently and just slowed quickly with flashers coming on.
Anyone else been up against a goat?

I had a buddy that got one, all stock except exhaust and drop in k&n filter, automatic, and we were gonna take them to the drag strip and see what they'd do, about a week before we were gonna go, he totaled it. He only had it for a couple months. Came in a turn too hot and got off in some pinestraw an it was over. Luckily he walked away without a scratch. The car rolled several times... I wanted to race him so bad... Lol
I did ride in it right after he got it though and I think it would've been a pretty decent race, his being an automatic. I should've won in the end but I believe it wouldve been a good race.

wasn't that impressed with them, at least the ones i encountered on the street while driving my 04 SVT cobra, none of them put up much of a challenge against that car in street trim, sure some with mods could be quite nasty but not the run of the mill stockers on the street. My cobra was dyno'd at 450 rwhp but still only ran low 13s in street trim (all season radials at normal pressure, full interior, spare tire in trunk floor etc) Ran it 15 times at a track once and never did get it into the 12s which was my goal. If i had to do it over again, i'd empty out the spare, and drop pressure in the tires a bit and i'd have gotten it into the 12s.

Goats run rampant in Houston.
lot of 11 second 500whop beats running around.
most of the time, they're not even LS2's anymore - more like 408's with heads and cam.
stock Goats run pretty strong - pretty similar to a stock 6.1 SRT8 Challenger/300/Charger.
i ran an LS2 Goat from a dig back when i had my SRT8300C - both of us were bone stock. he was on my bumper @ 120mph.
it's a GM, so it's one of those cars that can be made to be freaky fast with little effort....

the first ''new''musclecar i drove was a goat.i was impressed with the power but not much else,it was like they stuck a v8 in a cavalier,no style, cramped,so so ride and handling.i havent raced my challenger at all, dont really plan to either, just too much to lose these days.
