: T/A hood on a 11' SRT with Airaid CAI?
Zman6 08-01-2012, 06:43 AM I really want the Mopar T/A hood for my car because I think it looks bad a$$ but I can't justify adding a hood scoop like that unless it's functional, so I'd have to get the optional hood venting system to go with it.
The Mopar site says it only works with the Mopar CAI and also 2011 models require a different coolant resvoir:
"Hood Venting System designed to duct outside air, (when used with the T/A Style Hood - 82211665AD) to Mopar`s Cold Air Intake System (77060003AC). Includes hood scoop bezels, venting components and fasteners. Will not work with stock air cleaner system. 5.7 L engine only. For 2011, order Coolant Reservoir 04596466AF"
Does anyone have this setup installed on a 2011 or 2012 with a CAI other than a Mopar? Is changing the coolant reservoir really necessary?

MarkWalther 08-01-2012, 07:34 AM I have the same question but for a 2010 SRT. When I buy the hood, air box and CAI does it close with the taller SRT intake?
Also, which hood is best. solid one piece, or the one with the bolted on scoop? Metal or Fiberglass?
lunchbox660 08-01-2012, 07:51 AM I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. I have the hood but not te intake, but the thing is, it doesn't actually SEAL to te intake anyway, al it does is direct air to that location so it should work. If u had a different intake you would not need a different coolant reservoir either I think the only reaso. It's needed for the mopar intake is because of how the mopar intake mounts. As far as working on an SRT, that also should work, as that part of the hood is indented. Overall I think it will work, but that is just my speculation as I do NoT have an SRT nor an aftermarket intake

Thanks for your input. Thats kinda what I was thinking also.
LETSJET 08-01-2012, 09:27 AM Question for the Mopar R/T hood guys. Is the plastic scoop a sturdy construction where it doesn't flex and maybe crack the paint on the scoop? I would think it would be painted seperatly and then attached to the hood. Not trying to hijack this thread Zman6 but just trying to get some additional imput on the Mopar hood as I too like the look. I would do the hood body color so some feedback on the entire hood would be great. i would guess you'd spend about $1,500 for hodd, paint and install.

I have the hood already painted and on my 2009 SRT8. I planned on going with the 6.1 Mopar CAI with the cold air ducting. However, I am also currious if anyone has used anything different than the Mopar CAI. If so, there may be some modifications necessary. Anyone out there tried anything else?
6SPD4ME 08-01-2012, 03:48 PM I have the same question but for a 2010 SRT . . . which hood is best. solid one piece, or the one with the bolted on scoop? Metal or Fiberglass?
This point of discussion came up just this past weekend. Apparently some people with the two-piece Mopar hood has experienced problems at high speeds whereas there was some bending/buckeling at the contact points. I don't know whether its not torqued down properly or the nuts came loose causing the problem. We didn't discuss that point as the subject was interuptd and never retured to the subject...sorry!
lunchbox660 08-01-2012, 05:13 PM the TA scoop is a urethane piece with the same type of flexibility as the front and rear bumpers. the big difference is that it is much smaller surface area compared to the bumpers so even though its the same material, it wont flex as much just due to simple physics. as far as paint cracking, if it is painted properly, this should not be an issue, hwoever if a chinsy, dried up one-off paint is used, i could see it becoming a problem i guess.
as far as the way the scoop mounts, with modification, it technically could be made to mount on ANY hood, really, if you want to cut hack and slash something. the TA hood is stamped specifically to accept the TA scoop, so fit is never an issue. if things are flying off it is definitely because it wasnt installed properly.
