I started my car for about 5min before and turned it off and hooked up the battery tender. It's been roughly 20min now and it still is on the charging indicator. Is that normal? Shouldn't it at least be flashing green that its 80% charged or solid green? My battery can't be that low.

Not a problem. If it is more than a day or so, maybe you have a problem.

I have my battery tender hooked directly to the battery in the car via a quick connect that came with the tender. I run the cord out of the trunk right by the passenger taillight. I've been doing this for the past 3 winters and it works great!!
Same here, plus I've got a cover over the car and the tender cord is long enough, based on a plug in my garage being right behind the car, that it hangs down to the ground then goes up to the part that plugs in - no interference with the cover.
If you're like me though and take your car out for a spin on really nice dry winter days, don't forget to unplug the tender after you remove the cover.... The connector does pull apart and exits the trunk seal without damaging it - at least once for sure....
Go ahead, ask me how I know

MOPAR front & rear strut braces
Mycigarette adapter didn't work (light kept flashing red) so I ended up clipping it to the battery and not closing the trunk completely. works just fine!
Hooked the Batteries Plus Battery Tender Plus to the terminals under the hood heard the best connection is the terminals not sure cant prove it but its how I did it. I gently placed the unit on the valve cover ran the cord underneath and plugged in no problems 3rd year on life support, have heard issues with cig adaptor maybe the various brands.

I have used the Harbor Freight one's for years. They only problem is if you lose power they discharge the battery. So if power goes out, like what happened with Sandy, when LIPA went kaput I had to unplug three of them
I was going to hook one up to under the hood. Not sure where the terminals are though? I seen one what about the other
