Well as you can see I broke the locking tab.:crying:
Anyone know where to find a replacement plug body and the de-pining tools?
I just wish I had found a thread for plug lock release.

That's when you make a NEW thread!!!
If you don't know how those connectors work it's best to ask someone who does, I don't know, I changed the plugs without taking them loose.
I doubt that lock is really necessary, just a safety, if it's still pretty secure I'd just leave it alone!!!

Amen brother!
Always ask if you don't know. The lessons I learn are always the "Hard Way".
At least I recovered the 10mm socket that fell through to the lower belly shroud.
By not taking the shroud off by the way.

I sure hope so. It kills me to know it's broken. My first time touching this thing and I break it. Dang!

I did not know the plug has two locking features. The first one ( red tab) exposes the main lock. I got to pulling and that's when the red tab broke and prevented the second lock to be release.

Yea, right! I wanted to remove them and I knew that there had to be a catch so, I asked a friend of mine that works for MSD and he told me that it was easy and he would show me just how simple it was he came over and he proceeded to just go in my engine bay and did his thing................broke the damn tab!
I was so pissed and told him that I could have done that myself......................I still have it w/o the lock I actually done even know why it is that important anyway..................

Well I've contacted "Connector experts". Waiting for response. The site is easy to use. Download the pdf for the type plug that you want to replace. I think the PN is PT3009. If it is the correct number I'll post.

Coil Plug Re-Pin

Well here goes nothing....
It took all of 3 min. to do.

Coil on Plug
Wire Harness Plug Body
Remove/Replace

Pic 1-4 Face of plug. Remove yellow pig tail lock. (Arrow shows area to pry.)
Pic 2- Shows what part of tab that needs to disengage from plug.
Pic 3- Shows plug body where yellow pigtail lock engages.
a) Lift back of tab. Allow de-pinning tool to move under the tab to disengage lock.
b) Remove yellow pigtail lock, set aside. Can reuse if it did not break.
c) Insert de-pinning into the bottom side of wire socket. Push tool in keeping good contact with pin.
d) Pull on wire from back side of Plug body until lock releases wire.
e) Remove wire from socket/plug body.
Only used the new plug body. Reused the original yellow pigtail lock.
