No problem, There appear to be 3 different radiators. 1 for manual trannies, 1 for Automatics and 1 for A/C Automatic cars. Napa can get one in 24 hours.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

The 26" radiator was the heavy duty cooling package. Usually on A/C cars & towing packages. If yours doesn't have A/C, the 18" might be the original.

Congrats on getting the '74, those were the rarest of all the model years because they stopped production before the model year was out. With the proper internals, a 318 can make well over 300 hp and still retain day-to-day driveability.

You should either have a 26" or a 22" radiator.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

If it is a Mopar radiator if will have a 7 digit part number on the top tank next to a pentastar just run the number on a google search. When we ran the number on our 71 Challenger it came back that the car was built with a 70 T/A radiator. I believe the number came up on Roseville Dodge. We wound up selling it for big bucks on e-bay--------didn't need anymore, running aluminum radiator with the Hemi.

I want to thank you all. I also ordered a 160 thernostat to help her from running hot. There is a number on the top 38086 and 3692914 which doesnt come up under Challenger, so not sure what car it is made for but it does have dodge logo on it.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

Great on landing a 74. Pick-up one at the nats a year ago for the purpose of making it to match our 08. The wife gave the go to start it in Oct. Now we will have to find a 6.1 to put in it. It will take time to adapt it to the 74. will put a built 727 behind it it. Hope you got a complete car cause the parts are getting hard to find (the little stuff)Napa is a good place to go but if you spend the money get a Parts book. Covers to things, helps to put it back together and if your mopar dealer will go out on the locator list you can get things out of dealer inventorys elsewhere.

if you need it I have a viscous fan brand new I can not use from Mopar. It pulls a lot of air and should cool you down at low spees and at idle. Also helps make s more power than the after martket fan types. too.

I had to go electric on my 64 Dart.

PM if intrested will sell at a good price.

PS congrats on the car.. those are a nice year!

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

I ran the numbers off of your radiator and it appears someone put a radiator in your car for an "A" body. 1974 Dart, Duster!
