Gas Tank Question.. I have a leak on a seperate block that has 4 nipples on it before the tank. Does anyone know the name of the part. Its not the hoses but the actual block type piece.

Are you referring to the nipples on the shotgun side of you fuel tank? The tanks from 71 on have these nipples which were there for a form of early air polution control. Follow the lines some should lead into your trunk into a metal pipe. If these are the nipples you are referring too and they are leaking you will need to get the tank repaired, or replaced.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

There are 4 lines coming off the tank that lead into a black looking long box then come out again of that piece. I dont know what the piece is or the name. That is where the fuel appears to be leaking from. I want to buy a repair manul to help me but there are so many to pick from. Does anyone know a good manaul with alot of information on parts and their breakdown? Thank you

Look for bishko auto manuals-------they will have the best manuals I have found. They will have a factory shop manual reprint for your car. Buying one of the generic manuals is pretty much a waste of money.

Could it be a "separator" ? Or, a shield or a insulator ? I'm looking at my Koller Dodge Restoration Catalog ,but for some reason it doesn't have drawing[s] for Challengers/Barracudas/'Cudas ,only for Darts/Belvederes/Coronets in this particular section. An E Body fuel tank went for $189.00 .but that must have been years ago..yes, I just looked inside front and it's a 1992 copyright !Yes, try to look on eBay or call a local Dodge dealer _parts dept. and see if they have a Restoration catalog on hand or can order you one ! I don't think/know if Koller Dodge.here in Illinois is even still in business ! There were/are only a few dedicated Dodge dealers that carried these ...took and interest in older Mopars !!! Or a repair manual.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

I'm not sure what you mean by a black box. On the shotgun side of your tank where the lines come off there is a shield that protects the lines. If that is what your referring to just remove the shield and run some new lines. They are two different size lines on our 71 Challenger. If the fuel lines have never been replaced in 34 years I can see why they would leak--------hope this helps. Still would be a good idea to purchase a shop manual if you plan to do any work on your Challenger.

Re: 1974 Dodge Challenger Need Help

It's your vapor seperator. There is no repro part available, so you'll have to find a used one and it may be a 1974 specific part. The theory is that the evaporated fuel vapor goes into this part, condenses and returns to the tank as liquid. It could be considered as early pollution control.

Hope I helped more than I confused!
