Re: How Many Folks Own a 70-74 Challenger?

I've had about 35 of 'em in the last 25 years...my current Chally is a 70 R/T 440 4bbl Super Track Pack (That's a 4-speed & Dana for you new guys). It's FC7 Purple with a white stripe & interior. I'll try to get a pic into my signature soon. Would like an '09, but probably can't afford both.....

I also have had several ‘cudas and Challengers over the years – the one I am currently restoring sounds very similar to yours – 70 R/T, FC7 purple with white stripe and interior, 440 4bbl 4sp Dana, but with the Track Pack (3.54 ratio) rather than the Super Track Pack. I won’t have pictures for a year or two, but I’m anxious to see yours.
In the waiting to be restored category, I have a 70, FC7 with the 340 package, 4sp, black interior etc. – originally purchased for parts but has become a project.
I would love to pick up a new Challenger but Canadian pricing is somewhat frustrating considering that our dollar is pretty much at par. Also, I would be trading a 300C, so it is difficult to justify (and convince my wife) that it is worth it to ‘trade up’ to essentially the same car with 2 less doors. I’ll see how tempting it is when they finally hit the show room, but I’m most likely to buy a used one from the US if our pricing situation doesn’t improve.

Re: How Many Folks Own a 70-74 Challenger?

This is a photo of my current Challenger doing what it does best, consuming fuel. It is 1973 Dodge Challenger 340 with 727. It has all original drivetrain including the 8 3/4 Posi Rear. Of course the paint has changed, the color is B5 Blue is as it was from the factory, but it now has the rear bumble bee stripe. It has the TTI stainless steel headers and exhaust out back, sounds like it should (Not quiet).

I have owned many E bodies (Barracuda, Cuda and Challengers.) I have owned 2 challengers both 340's. I think the small block is the best all around package for performance and handling. Although any E Body is great!

I hope to see the same enthusiasm for the 08 and later Challengers as I have seen for the early years!

Jay

Re: How Many Folks Own a 70-74 Challenger?

Ive had about 8 or 9 Challengers over the years. Most were rustbucket smallblock cars with one tire in the salvage yard I made my living in the late 80's and early 90's parting out old mopars (before prices went through the stratusphere) I kept the best body out of all the cars I had.Its currently disassembled undergoing restification.

Re: How Many Folks Own a 70-74 Challenger?

Hi everyone,

First post here, been lurking for awhile.I have a 1970 Challenger. It was purchased as a basket case with no drive train. It was restored as a T/A clone with a fuel injected 360 crate motor and a Keisler 5 speed.
Also have a 2007 Super Bee which I'm considering trading for an 09 SRT Challenger.
Will try to post some pictures of the 70.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: How Many Folks Own a 70-74 Challenger?

1973 Challenger here. Red, black vinyl top, black t/a spoiler on the tail. 360 / 904 combination right now (always in morph mode). I'm considering ordering an 09 in the same color combo so they look gooooooood in the driveway!
