Howdy brothers
I am the proud, very proud owner of this 1972 beauty.
![]() I also run a cruise-in at the Quaker Steak and Lube in Middleton, WI every Thursday night. July 26, 2007 is going to be Mopar night! |

Re: Howdy brothers
Thanks for the welcome and kind words y'all
No offense intended Hemeee. DartSportDude, I also enjoy the "old school" look. When I first bought the car, I immediately looked into air bags and rims with a better offset. But I am enjoying a look that was popular when I first saw these cars..new. It brings me back to my youth every time I look at it. Now when someone says "you need to lower it, it sits too high" I don't agree, I just nod and think how it is how it was then. |

Re: Howdy brothers
Jonmandude,
Amen. It's always fun to pick up an old copy of Hot Rod or Popular Hotrodding to recall how most muscle cars really looked back in the day. I don't miss the Velour upholstery jobs and shag carpet, but I do prefer the aggressive hot rod look that you saw from the mid-60s to the mid-80s. Raised rear, big meats, deep dish mags, etc. Sure, they rode like crap, but who cares?! People weren't afraid to customize their cars back then. Now, if you have a high dollar car, you're scared to use a non-OEM oil filter for fear you'll be chewed out at some car show! I've restored my old high school car ('73 Dart Sport 340) back to its vintage 1976 look. So many people come up to me and say, "Yeah, that's how I remember these cars!" ![]() |

Re: Howdy brothers
We are truly brothers. I get some flack from the ones that dont' get it, screw 'em. The guy that owned this baby before me said he was tired of hearing "the rear should be argent silver", "you have thewrong tips", "Plum Crazy wasn't on 72's" and on and on, from purists. My view is you build your car and I'll enjoy mine, to each his own.

Jonmandude:
I agree with you. There's room in the muscle car world for both purists and hot rodders. I just wish people would loosen up and start enjoying these cars again. Everyone is caught up in this "my car is more valuable, rare, etc. than your car" thing. The introduction of the '08 Challenger should bring some new blood into the hobby! |
