Ok, first big question I've been unable to have answered.

I've got a '72, was originally a 318 auto car. I've now got a 440 in it and am going to run a 727 transmission. The tranny I've built has the R/V tailshaft on it, the little short stubby one. I found a crossmember from an E-body that supposedly had a 727 in it also.

Will I be able to easily adapt the crossmember to mount the shorter transmission or should I swap out the tailshaft.

Also, do the 904 and 727 both use the same transmission crossmember, or are they different between the two trannys? The guy I bought it from wasn't sure which it was, but by looking at the pictures it looks like the one that a friend of mine has in his 727 equipped car. Some people I've talked to say that it IS the same one, in which case I have nothing to worry about. If not, I only paid 25 bucks for it, so its not a great loss.

Thanks!
~James aka Spyder.

Re: Ok, first big question I've been unable to have answered.

The crossmember is the SAME for 904, 727 and 4-speed. I'm going to bet the farm that the tranny you have with the weird tailshaft will not work, so you'll probably have to change the tailshaft or possibly the whole tranny.

Those guys over at Mofarts don't have ALL the answers!

Re: Ok, first big question I've been unable to have answered.

Hey SYDER, you might want to change the output shaft(also the tailshaft housing) and save the rest because many turck/rv 727s came with 4pinion planeteries (more beef). contact John cope at cope racing transmission he is the YOTA of the torqueflite. they speak mopar and race mopar . good luck.
MOPAR OR NO CAR!!!
