what model 1970 challenger did i have?

i'm know it wasn't a T/A, R/T, or SE, but what else was there? i had a

white 1970 challenger
340-4 barrel
4-speed hurst pistol grip shifter no console
cheap black vinyl interior
flat hood
1 1/2" wide side stripe that followed the body line (can't remember if it was above or below the line)
dual exhaust rectangular tips
8 3/4" 391 rear with those funny half leaf spring

fairly quick car, but took turns for ****.

The 340-4bbl (option E55) was not available in the R/T so I suppose it was just a Challenger.

The 4-speed manual was available either floor mounted or console mounted.
Two transmissions were available; the 318, 340, & 383 used a 2.47 low gear and the 440 & 426 used a 2.44 low gear.

It appears that the bright exhaust tips were only available on the R/T.

The axle ratio available on the 340 car was either standard 3.23 or the Sure-Grip 3.23, 3.55, or 3.91.

Did you bought it new? You know trims and stripes can get away sometime in a car's life.

06 Magnum R/T brillant black, JBA headers/mids, SRT suspension, MSRT whells, Kicker audio upgrade.

They had a 340 4 bbl with the RT trim, it was a A66 code on the fender plate. It came stock with the rectangle exhaust tips and dual exhaust, rally dash ( with tach ), hood pins, heavy duty suspension, sport hood, etc.
I have one, black with white bumblebee stripe. I Can't find any production #s anywhere. Maybe thats what yours was but somebody replaced the hood with a flat one a some point

Sounds like a base Challenger with the option of 340 & 4-speed, and dual exhaust. They could be added on as options to the base model.

The non-R/T models could get the plain side stripe (below the side crease).

There was the 340 Package (heavy duty susp, front and rear sway bars and the performance hood).

From your description it doesn't sound like yours had the HD suspension or the rear sway bar as the 340 package would have had.

2009 R/T 27J pkg (6 speed MT) ordered 7/17/08, built 10/23/08, home on 11/13/08

Eibach Sportline Suspension
Hotchkis Sway Bars
Nitto 555 Extreme 265/50-18"
392 Cam / DS CMR tune
Hurst /G&K modded short-throw shifter
Black gauge faces, lighted needles

My sister had purchased a'70 Challenger R/T new, I remember trying to talk her into the "340 Package", but she got the std. 383" Magnum. If I remember right, the 340 also came stock with 15" Ralleyes and E60 tires.

In 1970 the 340 4-speed was an available option on the base Challenger but was not available on the R/T. In 1971 the 383 Magnum was still the base engine for the R/T, but the 340 was available as an option. The R/T was dropped after 1971 and replaced with the rallye package.

Here are the 1970 & 1971 brochures. For 1970, the engine pages show the available model & engine options.
