By the way, if you want to read a bit of the book without having to buy it, or just to check it out, you can go to www.grandmalpress.com and click on the Walking Shadow cover. There is a link for reading the first few chapters and also an Amazon link.

I also just finished my first novel that is also a near-future cross-genre / sci-fi noir book. And I'm from the Chicago area. My book - Slain in the Spirit - takes place in Naperville. It's available on kindle from here:

I'll try to check out the first few chapters online, but in the meantime can you let me know, in the story did the Cubs win a World Series yet? Is Old Style still available? Chinooks still swimming out in the Lake?

Yes, the Cubs have won a World Series!! In fact, 4 out of 5 Series - though in the book's timeline of things - not recently.

The book is only 5 bucks, and is a quick read, so - yeah, check it out & let me know what you think!

That's not up to me. That's the publisher. They did the cover art and
all the layout too, although I like all that quite a bit.

If the novel is even a half as good/funny/perfect as your metaphor for time and energy it took to put out (I'm assuming your first if not second book) then I am almost required to purchase at least one for me and one for a friend.
:P

Congratulations!!!
