It overheated and screwed up the auto tranny, I remember getting the tranny fixed, but I can't remember when or where I got rid of it..

They ('78's) were hard to find back in '84 when I bought it, so I can imagine it being close to impossible now..
I bought it from a dealer before he had even had time to do any reconditioning to it..
I bought a new truck in '86 but I don't remember trading it in for the truck,, but that is probably what I did with it..
I had totally forgotten about that car until I saw your post.. thanx

Heck, on Friday [Aug 1st] I saw a new Challenger about 7am driving just off I-25 at the Broadmoor exit[131?] Wondered if that might have been our Warrior !!! Saw one parked on 2nd level at Perkins Dodge !!

Thanks, although I'd somehow would've needed some gas money and a plane ride or ? back here to Chicagoland . Y-ahh , the first one I saw at a 'No-Haggle Price" dealer ,a Hemi Orange one ..was amazed they had it outside..I went right up to it ,looking around me several times like a Paranoid individual [ that I ]. No salesperson ever came around/up to me !!! Heck, a few days ago I noticed another one parked in the alley in back of this stereo store .kind of hidden by one of their business trucks ,and this area is not what it used to be ..I'd be sweating lots !!!

Oh of course i woulda fronted u gas and all, hence why i asked if u were in ny or not, cus u said u would pick it up and bring it to ny so i wasnt sure if u were saying u would bring it to ny or not cus u lived there or for the favor and lived elsewhere. Cus if u lived in ny i woulda fronted u gas and wutnot, but if u lived elsewhere i woulda surely have given u gas and a ride back and all. What color is the other one u seen in the back alley out of curiosity?.

Yes, I understand. Those Conquests were really kind of neat, unique. You probably know all about 'em...how many were made : wasn't there a turbo model ? This latest Challenger I noticed was the HEMI Orange.See, I vaguely knew/know the owner of this stereo store near me.His girlfriend had a '70 ragtop Challenger that was getting ragged [this was 20+ years ago] around the time I had my '70 Challenger [around 1984ish] ! Well lately I've been wondering if he was going to be getting one [ since he can well afford one] and as I was driving past last week, apparently my perhipheral vision detected the very slight Hemi orange which was 95% obscured by one of their white box cube trucks, but I barely saw the tail end and thought I'd seen the new '08s bumper profile. I turned my head quickly 180 degrees and Yep, Yep. there was a new 2008 SRT8 just sitting there against the old brick exterior and gravely ashphalt parking area ..all alone unprotected !!!

Re: Wanted: 79-83 challenger...

Ohhh i thought u meant u seen a quest behind the stereo store lol. As for ur conquest question they were all turbo, only difference is the widebodies 86.5-89 had intercoolers as well. The flatbodies just had a turbo. They all had 2 injector throttle body setups. Not sure of exact numbers for all but i do know the actual mitsu starion in 89 is limited to 158 or so and i had 2 of them alone lol A friend of mine has 1 right now and one of the 2 I did have is back to the owner i bought it from lol. As for the other 89 starion i had I have no clue where its at anymore, I gave it to a guy many years ago as i didnt have a place for it and it came with an 88 conquest i bought as a deal, I hadnt known the rarity of the starion being 89 over the conquest at that time lol. Had to go off the guys property so i let a local guy take it away and i kept the conquest. The more recent 89 starion I had got from NJ and sold it back to the kid about 5 months ago. I now have a 89 conquest in fiji blue. I have had many conquests but only the 2 starions.
