There is a 6.2L supercharged option in the works for a production car but no 6.4L other than an aftermarket Mopar deal thru Arrington...

how can they make ANY engine that will compete with the 662hp Shelby?

that would mean the Challenger would be as fast as their Viper......

Chevy Detuned their 6.2sc from their Zr1 for the Camaro....thats why the ZL1 is .5 seconds slower than the Shelby

best case scenario is it will compete with the ZL1....which means 0-60 in 4.1 and its already more difficult because of weight

and it will cost MORE than a ZL1 and a Shelby....0 chance it will be less than either

if i were Dodge id just give up on this market...until they unveil a new Challenger in 2015

unless dodge can give you 700 hp for $55,000

2014 SRT-8 Supercharged 6.4 ?

*sigh* so tired of hearing about the cheap and fast mustang on CT that 99% of owners can't drive anyways.

Maybe if a miata did 11 sec from the factory everyone would jump on that bandwagon too.

Try a blown 440 and see if you have any power issues then.

challenger with same HP as viper will still be slower. you do know that the viper weighs 1000 pounds less than a challenger not to mention the aerodynamics that went into the viper.

and I agree with one of the above posts, 99% of mustang drivers can't drive. I have beaten several shelbys at the track with my stock 392 because they can't drive.

And I bet I can beat your new shelby because I am positive you ARE in the 99%

This.. My Viper GTS weighed 3300 lbs.. The new ones are less than that, from what I hear. It would take something over 700+ to get a 4100+ lb Challenger to walk a 640 hp Viper and even then from a roll on the interstate you might still get walked with the superior aero dynamics.

Thumbs up Supercharged 6.2

Just to thank all of you Challenger Lovers ! I am a dyed in the wool MOPAR lover, as I've posted on here in the past ! Once they (Mopar) get their heads out of there BUTTS, they can get things done right , unfortunatly It's usually after Ford and Chebby have moved on to other things ! I hope I'm wrong, as in Remember A990's , and 68 HEMI Darts and Cuda's And Starting with the current Challengers and Chargers ! By the way my IE has gone as fast as 12.19 @ 115.66, at Union Grove ! Kick butt air , bone stock, everything except for K&N drop in air filter !.....Thanks again,John,,,,

on the Mustang forums they all say they beat every 392 with their 5.0's (let alone the 5.8sc's)
the only car i ever raced was a GN and i won easily(ive been told there must have been something wrong with the GN)
i enjoy a cars HP by myself, not by racing......i enjoy 0-100's on freeway on-ramps

i find it funny how each forum has members who never lose

my Shelby has launch control....any idiot can launch it .....ive barely driven it and never floored it yet....from what i can tell i can totally blow the doors off a 392 if the race starts at 55mph+....ive tested the power a bit in that range and i know its significantly more powerful than my 392 is at that speed.....night and day difference at higher speeds for sure

they arent going to give a Challenger more HP than the Viper....0 chance

just like Chevy didnt give the ZL1 more HP w/ the same engine than the ZR1

the Mustang doesnt have a high dollar car that it cant compete with

do you think the 6.2sc Challenger will be anywhere near 700hp?

my guess is it will be 570hp range.....and be $55,000 stripped - $65,000 loaded

they wont make it 600+ hp when the viper is 640hp...they cant
